41  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / make me a reusable shopping bag/tote swap on: August 16, 2008 10:25:00 PM
would anyone be interested in a swap where we create tote(s) (1-3 totes total)
for a reusable shopping/grocery bag? we can make it with a theme weather its our partners favorite color, save trees, or if they are vegetarian or vegan etc.
thinking keeping this one small so its a low stress swap.  It would be up to the partners to decide if they only want to make one, two, or the MAX of 3 simple, cute, handy, reusable (washable incase something were to leak in it) bag.
Whaddya think? anyone?

42  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mannequin eye sore to Pretty lady give me more! on: August 08, 2008 10:34:40 AM
I came across this ole mannequin head at a local antique & junk market after I had been on the lookout for one for a while.
She needed some special care and cleaned up as her wig was ratty looking and someone put two layers of false long lashes on them with tons of black paint & pink glitter glue and made her look...well, icky!
So here is the before:

AND after I got ahold of her!

Thanks for looking  Smiley
PS: She needs a name...any suggestions?

43  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / A Doodle Bird- a rare species.... on: July 22, 2008 12:29:39 PM
THIS is a doodle bird:

Doodle birds are quite rare and are a distant relative of the owl, as one can tell, but the owl family treats them as an outcast due to their strange non-owlish ways...
Doodle birds are attacted to color and particularly art pens and pencils.
I managed to catch a photo of this particular DOodle bird who has since decided to take residence at my house by setting bait.
I put pencils and pens in places outside, and waited....He seemed to be attracted to the red ones...

I waited and ...SUCCESS!

He took the bait! Smiley
Since taking residence, we have named this particular Doodle bird 'Mine' due to he thinks every pencil or pen is HIS. So, if you decide to let one take residence at your place, beware, they will take any and all pencils they find! He has started eyeing my yarn bin for nesting materials...I may be in trouble if another shows up....
44  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my treasure, an embroidered flour sack...:) on: July 19, 2008 06:51:07 AM
I didn't  make this, I was given this yesterday by my Mamaw. It was made by her mother, Ma, my great grandmother, many years ago. Ma, made the towel out of a flour sack (one can still read the faded stamping of the maker of the flour on the back side) then embroidered it. I think its one of the cutest designs ever and of course priceless since it was made by her. Just wanted to share my treasure Smiley

48  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Popcicle sleeve clutch! on: June 29, 2008 06:36:46 PM
At my house we go through TONS of these things weekly, and I just thought it was a shame for all of these to just go to the dump cause they had to have some other uses surely,...
SO, the popcicle clutch was born!
Here it is completed:

And here is what it was before:
(excuse the much in need of a manicure hands please!haha)

I just washed them out after they were eaten and let them dry, then cut lengths of ribbon to insert into them, then basket weaved them together after sewing my first base pannel of them in an alternated color row.
Added a backing to have a liner and viola!
I didnt have a zipper to put in it, but I will sew one in later...
anyway, another use for these little thingies!

Thanks for looking  Smiley
