1  Re: Poppet vs Ami Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Im Sew Silly on: October 16, 2014 11:43:37 AM
After a long wait to receive due to illness (on my part), and camera problems, I now am so pleased to introduce the poppet and goodies that I received!
Here is (named by my kiddo who totally adores her!) Maddie Sewbringas Hatter!

Isnt she AMAZING! I am such a lucky gal and having to remind myself that I have to share with my kiddo! haha
The photo doesn't do her justice, really, she is utterly amazing. Her little fingers are individual and are able to be positioned to hold her sweet needle and scissors! Her dress is totally gibbous inspired with details of measuring tape, and she came with her own pin cushion, thread spool and needles and loads of other goodies! (she knew my kiddo is really into geography and collects magnets and post cards from the places we have swapped!) Oh and her hair feels soooo good & her eyes have the neatest little colored flecks in them that were difficult to photograph but take my word, so pretty!

Kiddo has deemed the fabric for her growing stash and now has a new sewing buddy to accompany her on her efforts as she learns how to work my machine.
I wish all could have seen her eyes at the chocolate whales! she was so tickled as she had just completed making a diorama and report paper for her science project on salt water habitats! (featured the otter- I will have to post a pic of that too cause she did an awesome job!)
Lol, also notice one of the candy packages is already open, as she just couldn't wait till after I took the photos to try them out! haha Cheesy
Puamelia, I have decided that you are a poppet wizard Grin ...I am in awe of your talent and so thankful to have been paired with such an amazing, and kind partner!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I received today from Jemimah !!!!
Here is a picture of all the goodies in one shot. (unfortunately its sideways and not sure why I cant correct that!)

She sent not only the beautiful sewing birdie mixed media box, but also this fabulous fabric, buttons in a bag, and New Zealand post cards (love that kiwi bird!) for my kiddo who is totally fascinated by other countries! She says we have to make her a pillow case out of the fabric so she can enjoy it daily and not cut on it too much! (I wish I could have shared in photo the expression that was on her face upon opening!)
Here is the front of the lovely bird box she made for me! "Feathers & Chirp!"

And the inside....can you stand it!?<3 Look at all the wonderful details! I adore birds and she combined my love for them and sewing into one!!

Thank you so very much! Kiddo and I love it and I think she is going to start a peg board to display postcards received from the various awesome places we receive from in the swaps. Smiley

JACKPOT AT THE PO TODAY!  Grin I went to the post office and found I had three pendant swap packages awaiting me!

I wish I were able to get a better image but the sun wasn't cooperating with me at all today! (plus I was using an ipad for pics, it was all I had to use though)
Anyway, first I opened up the owl pendant and two extra owls from rscowtown! I adore owls! and they also remind me of my favorite movie, labyrinth! I think I am going to turn the two extras into earrings!

2nd up was the pink wire wrapped pendant from dftba! I have no idea how she wrapped it that way ~ its so pretty (and the card it was attached to was too cute)! I am going to have to hide it from my kiddo so she doesn't sneak off with it when she sees its pink!

finally I opened up the celtic cross inchie pendant from artsycandice! Ah its so lovely and the stitches are t-I-n-y! THe greens are so rich and beautiful and the box is adorable!

Like I say, the photo doesn't do them the justice they deserve cause they are all gorgeous and I cant wait to wear them all!
Thank you all so much!!!!! Kiss

Get ready to see some awesome goodies! I felt like I hit the jackpot today at the PO!
I had two wonderful packages awaiting me!

First up, this lovely Celtic Cross hoopla made by spikefan! I love the colors of green used (had trouble showing how pretty the greens are with the camera) it is going to be so pretty on my craft room wall. Thank you so much for claiming and making this lovely piece for me!

(sorry its sideways, not sure why and had trouble making it the correct direction!...soooo just tilt your noggin a bit!)

Next I opened the package from luckdragon and discovered the most awesomely cute sewing machine cover ever! Is this caravan sweet or what?!
love all the details and colors and kiddo says the fairy that lives in our craft room will reside in it while its covering Clarabelle (my machine).
Thank you so much!! I needed a cover and the fact that its cute is icing on the cake!

THANK YOU !!!!!!!

OH, and rscowtown, I mailed your Independence Day garland today! Will send PM later with DC# Smiley

I received today from the awesome Averia!
She had claimed kiddo and myself for some fairy crowns and she made us two of the most lovely flower wreath crowns ever!
Averia, you totally nailed it on our colors! Kiddo saw the pinks shining though and before I could even get it unwrapped she was squealing and jumping up and down saying "oh oh that must be mine! LOOK BUTTERFLIES MAMA!" (she says fairies ride on the backs of butterflies when their wings get tired out)
It immediately went on her head and off to smell flowers she went! Cheesy

And here I am walking down the steps into the yard when kiddo snapped one of me rather quickly and then darted off to go play!  Cheesy
And it just so happens that on the day it arrived it matched my attire Smiley

Thank you so much for our wonderful package! I can see many fun fairy picnic tea parties where we will be wearing them and I think kiddo will be wearing hers no matter what the occasion! Grin

Oh and by the way, loved the card you wrote our note in as well. I adore birds!

THanks again!

9  Olivia Fernly~ or my first ever poppet/punkin :) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Im Sew Silly on: August 05, 2011 08:32:39 AM
I had to finally get brave enough to give the poppet/punkins a go! and so i decided to combine one along with one of my favorite styles, gibbous!
Introducing Olivia Fernly

I needle felted her woolen hair into her head, and also her nose. my kiddo was worried that i was hurting poor Olivia Fernly, but she didnt seem to mind it too much  Smiley

her gibbous style inspired gown blowing in the wind. i love mixing up textures and with her coloration and hair style, it seemed rather fitting to her personality.

thanks for checking her out!  Smiley

10  Generations of 'Mixed up" ladies...sounds like Crafting FUN to me! in CHALLENGE 64 ENTRIES by Im Sew Silly on: July 08, 2011 12:31:09 PM
Here is a Tribute to several Generations of Crafty Ladies in my family...

All my life i have enjoyed crafting, weather it be sewing, baking, flower arranging, butterfly collections, doll making, you name it...and usually i wasnt crafting alone.
So for this challenge, i decided to make something for my crafting area that would be a piece of rememberance as well as inspiration!

I have included my grandmother, AKA "Mamaw", my Great Grandmother, known as "Ma", and my Great Great Grandmother Kennedy. Smiley

While making it i sadly didnt take before photos or in process, i just got the groove going and didnt stop lol. But what i started with was an old unfinished wooden container that use to hold rubber stamps, a broken mantel clock, a piece of wood left over from a past swap, various fabrics, antique buttons & brooch, scrapbooking materials, a sparkly key, other small oddities, a photo of my great great grandmother kennedy, my mamaw's signiture, and my Ma's hanky....

Ma's hanky is in the old clock, she always had one on hand, and they were always so cheerful looking where at least if you had a runny nose, you were stylish! I made it into a flower shape as she use to grow and also make paper flowers. When she didnt have any flowers in the yard and a loved one or neighbor passed away, she would get out her stash of tissue paper and make lovely flower wreaths for their memorial.

Here is my Great Great Grandmother Kennedy in the center surrounded by all sorts of crafty inspiration, most are every day things as she had to work with what she had.

My Sweet Mamaw's signiture on a quilt like background as i cant count the days i spent quilting or playing like it was a tent when i was too small to help as i loved to play under the frame. She and i use to catch butterflies for science projects, the wooden bowl for all the baking of biscuits, and the tea parties we enjoy to this day.

With this nearby, i dont think i will ever feel like i am crafting alone. Smiley

Thanks for checking out my entry! :0)
