1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Doctor Who Swap Round 2 (sign-up 4/23-5/7; send 6/4) on: May 04, 2010 02:40:46 PM
OoOoO I would love to sign up for this one! I have to check the finances to see if it's doable!!!!!!!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: WWP Beltane Swap Round 19 on: May 04, 2010 02:21:53 PM
Sorry I haven't been on everyone! Hope you all had a Blessed Beltane! Mine was fabulous, we eat outside, and the little man and I went on a walk and found all sorts of treasures for our wall altar! And he used one of his candy wands Smiley Ohhhh boy did he LOVE that!! lol. And I hope that I can join for the next round!! Have to sit down and see what the finances are like. We got nailed by the IRS in the middle of this swap, so I was lucky to have some money stashed for it. Last year we got a little more back than usual, but we didn't think anything of it because we thought it was the fact that we had Strider. Which, some of it was, but some of it was from the fact that when my lovie did our taxes online, his finger slipped and put an extra "0" in. Ooh not good. So, we called and set up a payment plan, and then all of a sudden they took everything that was in our account!!! When we called they said that there was nothing about a payment plan in their records. So I don't know what the heck happened, but with all the took and our taxes from this year, we think we are square. Now it's just digging ourselves out of the whole that they left us in when they did that. Stupid IRS people. Grrrr.

Big hugs to Edel!! Good to see you lady jane!! Smiley The cauldron candles are so cute! And I love that hat to pieces! The altar tile I made is out of polyclay, then glazed with a pigment powder, then sealed Smiley

Wow wow! Everything is so amazing!! I'm glad that everything got to you hawkeyes_girl! I had a lot of fun crafting for you. And yes, the orchid is entirely polyclay, and then painted and sealed. I chose the orchid because they are known to be uplifting, to symbolize the appriciation of beauty (which I always think of when I think of Beltane Smiley Smiley ) They are also known for their protective abilities, and healing abilities (though I doubt you will get much of those thru a polyclay representation, one never knows hehe) The Aztecs also mixed them with vanilla and drank it for strength and power. And now that I know you got your package we can laugh that we both sent a Tree of Life pendant to eachother! hehehe. Great minds think alike. Now, I am off to argue with the uploader to try and get pics up of my bounty that I got today!! Smiley
EDIT: Here we go I got the pictures to work LOL:

First I got this GORGEOUS t-shirt! I love the picture on it! And it has an image on the back that says Beltane Walpurgis may Day 2010. I love it!!

Then there was a beautiful moonstone Tree of Life pendant which I ADORE!!

And I'm sorry the picture is dark, I couldn't get very good lighting today. This is a beautiful copper and Jasper necklace! I love the swirls of copper! What great movement and energy Smiley

Then she sent me a stand with two altar plaques. One of Brigid, one of Kwan Yin. On the back of the Brigid it says Each early and late
every dark, every  light.
Brigid is my protector
Brigid is my maker of song.
Brigid is my sword and shield
Brigid is my guide.
On the back of the Kwan Yin it says
Kwan Yin
compassionate one,
Who hears the cries of the world,
Grant us wisdom.
Kwan Yin
benevolent one,
Who hears the cries of the world,
Grant us peace.

Both are so beautiful and the poems are wonderful!!

Then a handmade  light and shadow washcloth and soap (it smells so good!!)

And then she included candy wands for the little man!! So he can be more active in rituals Smiley It was the neatest thing EVER! And she also put in candy bracelets. She also included a tshirt transfer to make him a shirt to match mine!! Smiley I can't wait to find a blank T in his size!! And I am surprised I got a picture of the stickers before he ran off with them lol

It is such a wonderful package! Thank you again so much you spoiled me rotten!!!

I sent today! Can't wait to see what everyone has made! I can't remember the name of the first book that I read. I know that it was a red leather covered book with nothing on the front of it, and it was filled with daily prayers and meditations. I wish I know what it was called, it "walked off" while I was in college and I loved it.

Sorry I've been quiet, little man and I have been sick sick sick! Not fun at all Sad I am crafting away though Smiley Will be done on time barring no bizarre world ending sort of events lol.
And as for elements, the earth and I are very close (Taurus all the way baby) but I find my strongest connection with water!

I also agree with Wulf, I love Scott Cunningham's books. I have found them very accurate, and as Wulf stated, easy to use. As for eating wild herbs, I haven't eaten much out of the wild besides a ton of berries, including the itty bitty wild strawberries (OOOhh they are so good for jam, though it takes a TON of them lol), some wild onions, wild garlic, nuts, and I gather burdock and nettles for spellwork, but I haven't eaten them. I did make some dandelion wine a few years back, and can I just say.... EEEEEEEEEEEW. LoL Maybe it was just cause it was my first attempt but it was AWFUL!!
In craft news, I have my medium started, and I am going out this weekend to get supplies for my small. It really looks like the medium is going to be a large and the small is going to be a medium, but I hope my partner doesn't mind Wink hehehe. I really suck  at making smalls! hahah
The little man and I have a spring cold going on. Yucky. So the whole house now smells like eucalyptus to help. I hope we are somewhat decent this afternoon because we need to go to the library to exchange our books. We go every two days lol. I LOVE having the library be a 3 minute walk from our house!! It is so excellent. He picked a little viola out of the yard on Monday to take it to the Librarian for a thank you. She was tickled pink and wore it in her hair, so he told her she was "Pitty!!" (pretty), and I think she pretty much melted on the spot lol. He's such a little flirt!

I'm halfway done with another item, yay!

Random Question #2:

What is the herb you most often use?

me it would be basilic hands down Tongue I cook a lot with it... And my miss my plants by the kitchen window so bad!

Lavender all the way. (Though I suppose its a flower not an herb, but still lol) I use lavender in EVERYTHING lol. Can't wait to plant some at my new place Smiley Soon!! Seeding soooN! I am so excited! I have to find a half barrel so I can do an herb container on my deck.
