148  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Record bowl question on: November 09, 2008 10:04:17 AM
Painting after making it into a bowl seems to make the most sense, unless I am misunderstanding your bowl shape or desired paint effect.  You could always just do a few experiments if you have some spare records (if not, you can probably find some fairly inexpensive ones).  Try different paint types to see how they hold up, and maybe try one that you would paint after forming the bowl.  You may end up making lots of neat-looking bowls.

I'm not sure I've said anything helpful at all...  Have fun with it.

Very true. I know after awhile I thought it would be hard painting afterwards.. But now thinking of it more it does make more sense.

Thanks.

you could paint it AFTER making it into a bowl. that way, it'll keep the design you paint and it won't get distorted.. unless of course that's what you're aiming for. I know there are sealants out there, but i'm not sure of which would be the best to use

Yeah I don't know I still just trying to think of ways. Because afterwards would be hard with painting all the curves.

I was thinking of using those painted pens but don't know if they would work. As for it getting distorted that worries me a bit.. but I guess it wouldn't matter since it would just be some random lines and such.
