Ok so I just discovered steampunk today (where have I been - I am so clueless). It coalesces so much of what I love about home decor, literature, and life all in one place. Short of making my whole house look like something out of Azeroth, steampunk is the best possible option for me.
Problem is, I have no budget. Now I have great thrift store options here in my (very small, very rural) town. Also ample garage-sale-ing abounds between March & October.
So: any advice on great big high-impact things I can do to start steampunking my home? I am thinking of focusing on the kitchen, bathrooms, and the master bedroom first. I also have a wood-panelled library area which seems conducive to that.
Please help me think through things like drapes, paint, etc - or what to watch for when thrift shopping. I have moderate sewing abilities and a willingness to try just about anything. My biggest hang-up with home decor in the past has been that I bought little trinkets and small pictures, and things that did not make much impact. I want BIG HUGE changes on a wee tiny budget.
I hope to post pictures here and chronicle the changes as I go.
Ok, please swamp me with advice and genius ideas!
Lucy
