Hello everyone! So, this was part of my BBT swap package with notsephot, and I figured I'd post it in here as well, seeing as it's my first ever amigurumi. I've crocheted hats (and a singular mitten) before, but I was always too scared to attempt this. It turned out way easier than I thought it would be (who knew?!) and I finished it in a night, which was awesome. I used the amazing pattern by craftyclogs (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=323108.0), just I bumped up to a 5mm hook mainly because I don't have a 3.75 and because I wanted him to be a little bigger, since I was only making one instead of the whole cast. Anyways. Here he is!

Hey everybody! So, this was part of my swap gift in the BBT swap round 3 to notsephot, but I figured I'd post it here for people who don't avidly creep the gallery's like I do. This is my first ever embroidery of any kind, my first ever cross stitch. I made it off a pattern I found on etsy, I think it was a "wee little stitches" pattern? They do tons of nerdy TV show casts in pixel people form. Anyways, without further adieu, here's my cross stitch! (that technically isn't mine at all)

So, here's the issue. I've got an old Bernina 1000 plus kicking around and I'm trying to make buttonholes. The problem is the manual is nowhere to be found and this seems to be a rare machine to find information on.

Does anyone with any of the bernina 1000 line (as they all seem to, at least, the 1000-1010 designer / plus etc have the same settings) know how to do a buttonhole? I've been trying for hours and have given up to come ask for help.

If you know, or could point me in the direction of someone who does, that would be amazing! Thanks in advance. =3

I've never done much sewing before.
My mom is super into it, and I've watched her make things before, but the most I've done would be like, random hemming to make a "barbie-blanket" or other simple square things of that nature.

This entire project was prompted by an assignment for my grade 12 history class- I picked feminism and needed a 3D replica or something to showcase my topic. Being the over-ambitious over-achiever that I am, I thought "hey, I bet I could make a corset!". I left myself a single weekend to finish this project with no other alternatives, and, it IS supposed to be a 19th century corset, but have you seen those things? No way I could have pulled that off.

Anyways, this is made using (mostly) the simplicity pattern (I think it's H500? I can double check if you're overly curious) but a lot of it was me messing up and making stuff up as I went along. The fabric is cotton drapery lining (because it was the thickest I could find) and the boning is plastic because I have no money and because I couldn't fathom working with anything that didn't at least bend a little bit. I hand sewed white bias tape for the edges. The eyelets are just simple plain silver ones that you put in with a hammer and the lacing is plain white ribbon.

After nearly sewing through a finger, almost breaking my thumb with a hammer and countless other injuries, it's done. It's far from perfect but dear god am I proud, plus, it looks pretty neat too!

Hello!!

So, this is the project I'm the most proud of.
Seriously.
I really wanted to crochet a hat, so I did. It was blue and black.
Then, I was thinking about it, and I was like, ZOMG. YELLOW.
And then my friend Elissa stole the blue one, and since it was her birthday, I made a red one for her.
Of course, before I gave it away I took pictures and well, here they are!!!

(If anyone cares enough to want a tutorial, I can probably whip one up?? =))

It has been established that I LOVE MACRO. This is the yellows detail.

Here's a close up of the rims. The red and yellow each have two rows of black and the blue only has one. I didn't intend to do this, then I realized they were kinda short and instead of adding colour I just did black - I think it makes it look a lot better, actually!


And finally, a shot of me wearing my favourite and most worn one, the yellow one, of course. I'm pretty (in)famous for wearing it around school, and well, yep. Just so you can see how it fits my head and all. =D

I'm not really proud of these.
They turned out shitty and were a damn lot of work - I wanted them to be authentic.
I scrambled my rubix cube and used that to make sure they looked authentic. Aka, if they moved they'd be 'solveable'.

But. Well. I cut up all the squares seperately.

9 x 6 x 2 = 108 little mini tiny squares.

And I don't even have pierced ears.

But, my friend loved them. It was her birthday and she kept hinting about how much she wanted a rubix cube, so I made her these to go along with it.
=)

Even though they're crap, I thought I'd share, maybe you could give me some advice??

Hello craftster!!
This is the story of the band teeshirts. (at eleven PM, of course)

Once upon a time, there were two girls (Elissa and me, Maggie) in love with a british band (originally from a book, and then a movie, and finally evolving into an actual group) with the name the Stiff Dylans.
Yes, a little strange.
Sadly, this band did not have merchandise, and they operated far away- oversees shipping is very expensive.
So, they decided to do something about it, and figured out how to stencil.
Luckily, all the supplies were already lying around, except for teeshirts that ended up being pretty cheap!! (Yay for Old Navy and all their sales!)


First, they cut the design out in freezer paper. It took a ****ing long time- there are lots of details. (Elissa's, of course, looked much better then mine- this one is mine).


I enjoy macro too much- this is the stencil again!


Next comes the fun part- painting in the stencils. (After the boringness of ironing and all that blegh.) Half way there!!


Finally we were done! Now all we had to do was wait four hours for them to dry. Luckily, it was about midnight, and we just passed out as we waited.


An added photo of the two shirts together on the ironing board (our table). With all my books behind them, of course.


Next comes the very scary part of pulling off the stencil- will it look okay?!?!?!


Luckily, they turned out fantastically! This one's mine. As you can see, we had to do bridges in the D and the A, and no, we haven't bothered filling them in. Drying overnight, again? No thanks. We'll do it some other time. =) (Yeah, so we're lazy, so what??)
