21  Re: Quilt Block Swap - Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by donniesgirl on: March 25, 2014 08:24:30 AM
I nearly have my Christmas themed raw edge circle quilt together, so I thought you might all like a peek:

I got squares from round 2 & round 4, and then did a lot myself...I split it into quadrants and the pic above is of one quadrant.  Well most of it, I need to work on my photography skills.   Wink  The little squares were annoying me because it seemed like every time I laid them out, I would have a 3 year old or a cat messing them all up.  But the quadrants will be sewn into the top this week & then I'm hoping to get to the longarm place in the next few months.  I'm due in September and I want this one done before then.

23  Re: 14 Quilt Projects in 2014 Quilt Along! in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by donniesgirl on: March 09, 2014 05:23:29 PM
I finished one of my quilt tops on my list.  It is a baby quilt using Hyacinth Quilt Design's Garden Fence pattern and fabric from Creative Thursday's Locally Grown line.  I'm waiting to find out gender before I get the binding and backing fabric, so hopefully it isn't too gender specific as it is.  Smiley

It's hard to tell from the size of the pics, but the fabric has things like sheep, eggs, chickens, tomatoes, strawberries, etc.

I plan to take this one and my QBS Rd 1 quilt to the longarm place in late April to finish it.

24  Patchwork Chevron Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by donniesgirl on: February 14, 2014 08:26:18 PM
This is a quilt I started a few years ago, and then got sidetracked finishing.  I finally made it to the longarm place last month & just put the binding on tonight.

It is the Patchwork Chevron Quilt pattern from Moda Bake Shop.  The patchwork is from the Moda Love Letters line.  Here is a close up of some of the stitching.

I'm giving it to my sister for her birthday & the longarm lady helped me "write" "to Julie from Jennifer 2014" on it.

I chose the large brown floral for the back.

I hate to part with it, but my sister has been begging me for a quilt & she can't sew.   Wink

25  Re: I Heart Tea Swap Rd 2 - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by donniesgirl on: February 05, 2014 08:27:38 PM
Unfortunately, one of my partners flaked but fortunately, blupaisan stepped in and offered to angel for me.  I received on Saturday but I have been a little under the weather so sorry for not posting pics sooner.  Here is the loot:

There is a very cute stitched cat card and a pretty tree canister.  There is a lovely black cuff bracelet & I'd like to know how she made that, since my hands are usually too big to get through regular bangles (it is not too loose btw blupaisan).  She also sent a lovely vintage tea party print from a children's book.  And last but definitely not least, she sent a vintage teacup.  I have a teacup collection so this was very thoughtful.  There is a very cute pair of teacup earrings from her Etsy shop.   The tree canister is full of a variety of wonderful tea (and thank you for all the decaf).

Thank you so much blupaisan - it was all lovely!

This is not a traditional gallery, we will be posting pics of what we make, not of what we receive.  Please claim a spot.

Everyone please make one post that will be your personal gallery post that you will keep adding your pics to as you make blocks for your partners.  After everyone has a gallery, then we can start chatting about what is posted, just so we have all of the galleries at the beginning, k? My second partner is not going to be able to get to a computer for a couple of weeks, but she received yesterday so I am going ahead & posting pics for her.  I did another embroidered tea towel apron for JenniferSavage, but this was a ruffly one since I noticed she had a few ruffled aprons & skirts on her Pinterest.  The tea towel is also a Mad Hatters tea party theme, but I went with a mouse in the teacups on this one instead of the Mad Hatter.  Here is the apron:

Here is a close up of the embroidery:

I also sent Earl Grey lip balm, and a selection of various teas:

I mostly sent green/herbals, but the Native Seeds Search tea is Saguaro Blossom Cactus tea.  Native Seeds Search is a nonprofit that is a seed conservation organization that preserves traditional seeds and supports ancient crops of the southwest US & Mexico and Im big on heirloom gardening so  Smiley

I've got it!   Grin  All right, here is the lovely package my partner silentblair sent me...

The first thing I saw was the Goonies mug - she noticed I liked the Goonies from a project I'd clipped on my profile.  Smiley  Not only does it have "Goonies never say die" on the front, but it has an inhaler on the back lol...

She also sent dishcloths, which are greatly appreciated, particularly since I can't crochet to save my life.  I love the variegated one especially - I've never seen yarn in those colors but it's pretty.  And to top it off, a mug cozy as well.

And as for the tea, she sent a bunch.  I'm the awful person that requested decaf, and she worked with that.  Check out this close up of one of the bags:

I believe that is the last scene from Sixteen Candles!  Did you color that yourself silentblaire?  Anywho, it was a cute package - thanks so much!
