171  Re: Chocoholics Unanimous Rd 4 Gallery of Sweet Chocolatey Indulgence! in The Swap Gallery by donniesgirl on: March 06, 2009 05:24:06 AM
I was remiss in my package opening!  DH was helping me open my 2nd package (and pawing the chocolate obviously) and he told me that one of the little boxes I received was a box of pins!  And I sew a lot so I have quite a few pins.   Grin  Anyway, Kat pm-ed me this week to ask about the earrings she sent and sure enough, they were in the "pin box."  Doh!  Well check these out - they are very cute dangly earrings.

I am so glad Kat said something!  I'm sure I would've opened the box when I needed some pins, but it could've been a while.   Roll Eyes

Thanks!  I got the pillow ribbon idea from here!

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=185683.0

I may try a bigger pillow next time with all kinds of sizes of ribbons...

Katcal also sent me a great package & I have been remiss in not posting earlier, but I had food poisoning last week.  So you can imagine my imense disappointment in receiving a box of chocolate while I was sick.  However, my husband was thrilled & immediately raided it, flashed it in front of me, & generally made me super jealous for not being able to eat any of it for a few days!  Wink

Katcal actually sent two packages.  The first:

Besides the very cool chocolate (yes that is chocolate with chili & gingerbread), I got a fantastic potholder with little cupcakes on it...

These fabulous coasters with little Hershey kisses stitched on...

And a very cute stash of "emergency Kisses"

Hershey Kisses are my favorite & I also mentioned that I like exotic chocolate combos.  Smiley

Now package two included a very cute pin cushion with pins, a ton of little chocolates, a chocolate candle, & chocolate lip balm!

Thanks for a wonderful package packages & swap kat!

173  Re: Shop the Swap 24 **Shops Only!!** in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by donniesgirl on: March 01, 2009 06:10:12 PM
Donniesgirls Swap Shop

Current status: CLOSED

About My Shop
Texas based shop.  Smoke free, although I do have a cat.  She is afraid of the sewing machine so stray hairs shouldnt be a problem.  Smiley

The shop

New!
Wildflower Notecards & Return Address Labels, set of 5 blank cards (5-1/2" x 8 1/2") & 3 sheets return address labels (30 labels per sheet) for 1 point.  Set has a variety of 5 different wildflowers taken by me here in Texas.  My spring allergies ought to be good for something!   Cheesy

The flowers:

New!
Every Day "Eco Friendly" Dinner Napkins.  Set of 6 for 1 point.  I'm always looking for easy ways to be greener so I got to thinking about all the paper napkins DH & I go through.  I figured these reusable cloth ones were a more environmentally friendly version so I made a set for DH & I.  They are casual (one sided) & each one is 12" x 12."  The fabrics I have available are below.  If there is a motif or color that you are looking for & I don't have it, please PM me.  I saw a cool Dia de los Muertos print at JoAnn's but I just don't see DH using those.  Smiley  I'm currently working on a bunch for housewarming & bridal gifts, so one more fabric in the mix would be fine.   Cheesy

Color choices available are shown below, left to right (white flowers, yellow strawberries, cherries, brown paisley, blue polka dots, blue w/brown flowers, Asian flower print, blue Asian print, medallions, sailboats, sunflowers, tan w/white flowers, tropical), & palm trees.   Note that the white is actually white (unlike my picture) and the yellow with the strawberries is a lemon-ey yellow (also unlike my picture).

Coasters - set of 4 for 1 point.  Please specify black/white/pink, blue/white/red, coffee, or Texas.

Kitchen towels - 1 point each.  Each towel has a yummy recipe appliqued, similar to below.  Washable.  Makes a great gift - I use them for bridal showers & housewarming gifts.  Please specify Cabernet Brownies, Poppyseed Madeleines, Jen's Blondies, Lavender Madeleines, St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake, or Cabernet Jelly.  The colors may be different than below, so if you have a color request, please let me know.  Or, if you would like a particular recipe appliqued, I can do that too.

New!
Wine grapes cell phone charm - 1 point.  I didn't make this, but it was made by a friend of my cousin's.  I think it's cute, but I'm just not a cell phone charm person.

Lavender sachets - set of 2 for 1 point.  Please specify the satin velveteen (left) or cotton botanical (right).  Two sets of satin velveteen available.

Denim Placemats - set of 4 for 2 points.  (Shown with cherry dinner napkins, above, but these are separate).   Washable.  They're made to look like they have a jeans pocket on them but don't worry - it is new denim.  You're not eating off the butt of my old jeans.  Wink

Pieced Placemats - set of 4 for 3 points.  Washable.  Claimed.  I could make another set if there was interest (in whatever colors), but I'd need a little lead time via PM.   Wink

Supplies!

I bought these for projects I just never got around to...Unfortunately, I don't have the fiber content or washing instructions on any of them, but I'll try to describe it as best I can.  All of the pictures below are clickable thumbnails.

Blue fabric - 5 yards for 3 points.  There is a total of 20 continuous yards.  10 yards have been claimed, 10 yards are left.  Each 5 yard increment is a total of 3 points.  It has a very subtle herringbone type weave.  The picture makes it look like denim, but it really isn't anything like it - it's more of a royal blue color with a heavy challis feel.

Plaid taffeta - 1 3/4 yards (60"w) for 1 point.

Orange flannel - 1 7/8 yards (40"w) for 1 point.  It's cotton or a cotton poly blend, pre-washed.  I think it used to be 2 yards at 45", but it shrunk when I prewashed it.

Cocktail flannel - 1 1/3 yards (45") for 1 point.  It's cotton or a cotton poly blend, pre-washed.  It has a "not intended for childrens sleepware" warning along the salvedge...would anyone really dress their kids in rum & coke fabric?   Cheesy  I guess so! Claimed

Black sheer - 2 yards (44" w) for 1 point.

Pink silky fabric with roses - 1 3/4 yards (45"w) for 1 point.

Horoscope silky fabric - 1 3/4 yards (60"w) for 1 point.

Red flannel with a girly print - 1 1/3 yards (41"w) for 1 point.   It's cotton or a cotton poly blend, pre-washed.

Girly silky fabric - 1 3/4 yards (45"w) for 1 point.  It has little sparkly gem looking things on it.

Plaid fleece - 1/4 yard (60"w) for 1/2 point.  Or actually if you buy something else & want it, I'll toss it in for free.

Tan corduroy - 2/3 yards (44w) for 1/2 point.  Or actually if you buy something else & want it, I'll toss it in for free.

My wish list would include
~ Cute kitchen towels - embroidered, appliqued, whatever.  Especially with matching potholders.
~ knit/crocheted dishcloths in the shapes of fruit, veggies, monogrammed P, or Super Mario Brothers.  I cant sew or knityet!
~ Any soaps or sugar/salt scrubs involving lavender, chocolate, cinnamon, gardenia, magnolia, or lily of the valley.
~ Actually I like anything involving lavender, period.
~ Nice earrings or necklaces I can wear to my (conservative) office
~ Bamboo yarnalthough I dont know how to use it yet
~ Casual napkin holder for my breakfast room
~ 6"-ish square picture frames in unfinished wood...or a deep espresso brown stain.  I'm eyeing a set at Ikea, but they're black & I really don't want to pay that kind of $ to have to refinish them to match my house.

Ok here are the other parts.  I took pics on my table, which probably doesn't look right - I had the dimensions for eirle's table.  Smiley

And here is the runner to coordinate with a banquet.

Ok I don't think eirle has had time to post, but here are some shots of what I sent her.  She has a forest green kitchen in an apartment she's not planning in being in long term, but all of her kitchen accessories were red.  So she was looking for something that would tie it together, but without looking Christmas-ey, and without committing her to a bunch of forest green she wouldn't normally decorate with.

Here are the reversible placemats I stenciled on one side:

Here is the junk mail art, made to match.  I got this idea from the Best of Craftster 2008 & I created the stencils.

I'll post the runners & table cloth a little later.  Smiley

So cute Lynner4!  I was inspired by this idea, too, and made these for a kitchen swap:

They were to go with these placemats I stenciled:

I just did art for another swap & it was based on this idea:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=246766.msg2731924#msg2731924

Totally easy - I used old magazines & clothing catalogs.  I used poster board & a couple old frames I had bought several years ago but never put to use.  So, supply list: "junk mail," glue stick, poster board, razor/exacto knife, frame.

It was to coordinate with these placemats...

Thought that might give someone an art idea.  Wink  You're only limited to the shapes you can cut out on poster board!

Woo hoo - I got my package from our illustrious organizer!   Cheesy  I told her my favorite color combos are pink & brown, and light aqua & brown and she totally made more from the ideas list I sent in my profile than I expected!   Cheesy

First, here is the package.  Oooh - international mail!

I got a bagsket!  I made a small one for someone on my first swap & decided I totally needed one to stick my crafts in while I'm working on them.  I have a ___ from the chocolate swap in there now.  Smiley  I like the brown fabric - it looks very island-y.

Next, I got a bag to take to work.  I wanted something that was "tame" enough to walk into our corporate office, but still fun.  It's brown, has a ton of pockets, and a pink zipper.  Wink

Then, I got a cute laptop sleeve, which I think is self explanatory.  Wink

And last, but not least, I got this great knit hat!

I'm going to have to take an action shot, but I have pony tail hair today.  Wink

Malisha also noticed I like chocolate from a little stalking, so we agreed to swap some chocolate, too.  Wink  Check this out - the wrapping is so cool I don't want to open it!   Cheesy  DH tried to take off with it (he loves chocolate too) but I got it back.  Wink

Malisha also sent a coin purse which she didn't make but was made by local crafters (in Mexico).  I thought that was a nice touch.  Smiley

Thanks Malisha for a great swap & a great package!

Ok this is technically from another swap, but check out what I just got from Mexico!

The wrapping is so cool, I'm reluctant to unwrap it!   Cheesy
