2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: @#$* Cancer T-shirts- WARNING Mature Language on: March 10, 2009 07:06:59 PM
there's actually a semi-famous lady (she had a late nite show on MTV in the late 90s) named jackie farry who was diagnosed with cancer and organized a whole series of benefit concerts under the banner of FUCK CANCER. she still sells FUCK CANCER merch.

srsly, tho. FUCK CANCER. your boss sounds like a rad dude and my best wishes go out to him. those shirts will definitely help him kick cancer's ass!

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / my 1st scarf! pink, yellow & white for my brother on: December 20, 2008 03:14:41 PM
i'm so proud of my first scarf! when my granma taught me to crochet, all i ever made were doilies and pot holders.

i used caron acrylic yarn. my brother is crazy and asked for a hot pink, yellow and white scarf. i tried to make it as tasteful as possible. i used double and triple crochet stitches. nothing too fancy.

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / sugar skull charms! [large images] on: December 20, 2008 12:31:22 PM
i had started  these way back in september hoping to have them in time for halloween and day of the dead, but then we had a hurricane and no power for 10 days and my craft oven was packed and we moved. drama, to say the least.

so late, but better than never.

polymer clay, in white and glow in the dark with acrylic paint accents and acrylic sealant.

7  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 29 ENTRIES / "what is best in life?" conan suncatcher! on: July 05, 2008 03:53:43 PM
it took me about 5 seconds to figure out who my childhood hero was: arnold schwarzenegger. he was tough, he was cool, he was CONAN. my friends and i often ask each other "what is best in life" which is a quote from conan the barbarian.

i couldn't make the suncatcher as complicated as the photo i was working with, but i think i captured the most important stuff. the suncatcher is made out of makit & bakit crystals and i soldered the suncatcher frame myself. the headpiece and face details are painted on with acrylics.

sorry about the lame photos; my camera software isn't cooperating today so i had to use my webcam.

thanks for looking!
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Photoshoots (commentary wanted) IMG HEAVY! on: June 19, 2008 09:18:25 PM
these photos are okay. i like the third one best because i like off-center subjects.
good photos have a sense of drama. it could come from the subject, the colors, the angle or the lighting.

#1: i think if you had more shadow, maybe so that just her face, arms & legs showed, that would have been really powerful. as it is, there seems to be too much to look at. there's no focus.

#2: the light is too strong and washes out the details of her hair. and it looks a little blurry but that might be me.

#3: there's a little drama here but i think the bright color of the subject's shirt clashes with the bright green of the background. i'm not sure what i should focus on as a viewer.

hope that helps!
