11  lace tank - VK summer '05 in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhythmgrl on: June 07, 2007 04:52:40 AM
I don't know why, but I've been a little disappointed with the knitting mags lately... so I reached into my pile of old mags and found this pattern.  I used Elann pima cotton.  It was a quick knit even with all the lace and cables.  The only problem I encountered was trying to find where I had hidden all of my different sized needles.  I can never put them back in their case where they belong.  That would be too easy.  Undecided

12  VK Summer '05 hoodie in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhythmgrl on: April 16, 2007 04:42:58 AM
So, I've been wanting to make this hooded pullover for about two years now... Finally bought yarn, made several modifications to the pattern

Here's what the original is supposed to look like.

...and here's what I ended up with.  I'm not sure I'm entirely pleased with it because it has little shape.  The crossover was one of the modifications I made to make it a bit more fitted.

I also shortened the sleeves quite a bit and added an eyelet row down the middle Smiley

13  it can't be true! i'm only the second person to knit this?? in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhythmgrl on: February 15, 2007 04:41:11 AM
I know it's not true, but I searched, and only one other person has posted a completed Sheldon.

Mine's a bit larger, as I used DK weight and worsted weight wool on Size 5 needles.  It's a gift for a former coworker of mine.  Smiley

I thought about going all Waldorf school and leaving it eyeless, but I put eyes on it this morning to give it a bit more personality.

14  betcha you haven't seen this... in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhythmgrl on: November 02, 2006 07:26:17 AM
It's a duck costume for a pumpkin.  Yeah, you heard me right.  We can only decorate our pumpkins, not carve them, for our office pumpkin challenge... so this year, I knit our pumpkin into a duck!

It came in third, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little disappointed.  Nevertheless...

15  four sweaters in two months... in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhythmgrl on: November 02, 2006 04:54:22 AM
I was a busy knitter in August and September... I'm just getting around to the pictures and posting.

1) A sweater I made for my mom's birthday from the Vogue Knitting Fall 05.  Vladimir Teriokhin's hooded pullover

2) A sweater for me from Vogue Knitting Fall 06 "Embellished V-neck"

3) My first fair isle project and the first sweater vest I've ever made from Vogue Knitting Fall 05.  It was also made with yarn that was given to me by a very close family friend who is unable to knit or crochet anymore, so I wanted to do it justice...

4) A sweater that I made up from more of the yarn given to me by the family friend.

I couldn't believe how many projects I went through in a short period of time.  I was so grateful for the gift of the yarn for the last two projects.  I think I'll probably re-do the neckline of the sweater vest, as I'm not pleased with how it looks on.  I think the pattern sizing gets a little weird, there...  But other than that, I'm pleased with the projects.  My mom is happy with her birthday sweater, and I'm loving the ultra low v-neck over a button-down for work!

16  Re: Summer of the dress... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rhythmgrl on: May 20, 2006 09:50:58 AM
I just took a picture of the first dress I made in my summer series Wink  I only modified the original pattern slightly... which led to my realization that I could alter it more with the leaf/stripe one I originally posted.  This is pretty much straight from McCall's 4826.  I had to twist the bodice pieces, though, to fit me better.

The fabric has a silver thread running through it, which I think, it's pretty awesome Smiley

17  Summer of the dress... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rhythmgrl on: May 15, 2006 01:18:35 PM
Anyone else feel like this really should be the summer of the dress?  Last year, it was summer of the skirt for me - and that's probably because of the two size discrepancy from my bust to my hips, but whatever.  So this is the second of three dresses that I've made in the last week.  The third was pretty awful, but I'll probably turn it into a skirt, nevertheless...

I'm pleased with how this one turned out though!!

18  Re: oh my, is that skirt on fire?? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rhythmgrl on: July 14, 2005 04:27:38 AM
Okay, so I lied and said I'd post pictures last night, but I'm doing it this morning before I get ready for work Smiley

Here are pictures of the finished skirt, the back and the inside...  The yoke is essentially double-sided (I can't think of the proper sewing term).  I dropped this sucker in the mail yesterday, and should hear by the weekend what she thinks.   Thanks for all of the compliments - I'm glad other people like it and it's just not some random crazy design in my head!!

It makes me want to make a skirt with kick pleats for myself.... hmmmm....  I should get crackin on that!

19  oh my, is that skirt on fire?? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rhythmgrl on: July 12, 2005 05:14:20 PM
My cousin is turning 28 this Saturday and for the past few years, I've tried to make her stuff for her birthday and other holidays... mostly because I'm poor and or was in school, etc.

This is what I came up with for her birthday (it's not quite finished.... I couldn't help but post)
It's my first embroidery project (freehanded...woo hoo!!).  Finished size is about a Gap size 10, it zips in the back and has the same pleats, minus the embroidery on the backside.

I hope she likes it!!!  What does anyone think??

20  just what everyone needs in the summer... in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhythmgrl on: July 01, 2005 04:48:37 AM
another pair of warm, wooly socks!  oh yeah!!
These are the Go with The Flow socks from the summer IK knits.  They're the first non-plain socks I've knit.  Sadly you can't really tell from the pictures, but there are small eyelets running up and down the length of the socks.
