1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / C&C California Top... I need some help, please. on: June 25, 2008 03:39:07 PM
So, I found this top at http://www.downtownchick.com, and I really love this style top.  I figure that it can't be too terribly hard to make.  I'm just not sure how to make the pattern to allow for the gathers around the neck and arms.  Can anyone help me out?  It would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I want to learn how to draw my own patterns on: June 24, 2008 12:06:21 PM
Umm...  Does anyone know of a good website/book on drawing clothing patterns?  They seem to be a little hard to find.  Thanks!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / First Post. Bubble dress + quick bubble skirt tutorial. on: June 24, 2008 10:08:30 AM
I started sewing about 6 weeks ago, and I'm in love!  This is the first dress that I've made that could be wearable.  I may take the waist in so that it is more fitted.
I altered a prom dress pattern for the bodice, then I made up the skirt, and the straps.  The fabric was on sale at Joann's.  It is quite dingy looking, as it is intended to be used for chef wear.  I used a metal zipper.  I got this idea from the cover of In Style magazine, plus I wanted to keep with the non traditional dress fabric theme.  The button on the front is a cover for the little snip I made while trimming seams... oops.  At that point I didn't want to replace the front panel.  I may switch out the button for something more interesting.  Please excuse my blindingly white skin, and my bra haning out...

Thanks for looking!

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Any advice on sewing with stretchy t-shirt fabric? on: June 03, 2008 10:02:13 AM
I haven't been sewing too long, and I do not understand this fabric.  It just pulls/ stretches wherever it wants when I'm sewing (by machine).  It's almost impossible to guide it in a strait line.  Any tips/ tricks would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.
