21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My comfy star dress on: July 03, 2008 03:52:15 PM
So I found this fabric in the clearance section, plus an extra 50% off. The black band at the top is leftover from a purse. Used a free burda pattern. I really just wanted to try out the pattern and see what the style would look like on me. I had to add a belt to go with it or it would have looked like a mumu. For that I just sewed together a few pieces of strech lace. Nothing monumental and it's definatly not perfect but it's comfy and great for summer!

Oh, more pics on my blog   l

27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: HELP!!! Peacock dress probs..... on: June 25, 2008 10:53:14 PM
Perhaps you could take some of the fabric out of the front (Like maybe darts under the bust line for a little more shaping)? I think lowering the neckline would also help.

I agree, I've got a larger chest and even some store bought dresses have had to be taken in in this fashion. The easiest way is to try the dress on inside out and just kinda pinch and pin two darts under the boobs. Once you define your womanly shape more the dress will be fab! I love love love that fabric!
