Awww, thanks guys for all of your comments! And yes I did use a pattern. Simplicity 2757. I love this pattern because it's a great basic that can easily be embellished and added to to take it to the *next* level hehe =D Totally one of my favorite patterns now.

One of my new years goals is to sew at least *one* garment every month. This is the first thing I've completed in May =D
The dress is made out of black cotton twill with faux corset lacing in the back of the dress. The front of the dress closes with hook and eye tape that I found in my sewing room.

Here's a close up of the corset lacing. I'm giving her white and a brick red ribbon for lacing options. The bodice is lined with brick red lining.

I <3 the hem of the skirt ^____^ The only thing that I don't like is the skirt isn't lined. >_> I don't like how you can see the seams. Next time I make this dress I'm either going to line the skirt or use flat-felled seams - tho I think lining the skirt would look really awesome. My cousin already wants another dress - this one will be made out of white cotton twill with black lace on top and (maybe) black lining.

As usual C&C is always welcome =D

So beautiful.awesome job.. Was it hard to make?

The instructions were a bit hard to understand, but once you figured out what the hell they were on about the kimon came togoether easily.

I'm thinking about doing a sew along since my bff wants one uber bad! =3

That is STUNNING! What a great pattern, and I just absolutely adore that fabric. Where did you get it?

I got the kimono fabric from Hankcock Fabrics from all places! I got it over a year ago so I don't know it they still carry it. It's from thier "Kimono Collection."
The obi fabric is from a local fabric store. I've seen some kimono prints at JoAnns!
Happy fabric hunting =3

About a year ago I tackled Simplicity 4080 and make a kimono for my cousin in muslin fabric. I had *hoped* to make her one out of fashion fabric very shortly...fast forward a year and I finally made one *lol* I'm SUPER happy with the way it came out, and my cousin couldn't be happier. I got it done in two weekends - one needed to make the kimono and another to get the obi together. Please comment with what you think!!!
