OK, so, I am due in July and I NEED to use cloth diapers, plastic are absolutely out of the question.
I would like to make my own, but after doing some online research I am completely confused about many things.
What kind of fabric should I use? How many layers of fabric? Should I make liners? If I make liners, what do I make them out of? Should I invest in the snap machine or just go with pins? How many should I make? Any other tips?
Please help me, this is my first and I have no real life peers that have done this before me...
Aren't they a charming duo? A skinny little (french?) pirate and his beautiful mermaid cousin. They don't have names yet, I am going to leave that up to the niece and nephew, but they do have accessories! The pirate has a treasure chest full of chocolate booty, and he comes with a skull and crossbones bandanna for a real little boy to wear. The mermaid comes with barrettes and a matching headband for my little niece and she comes with a seashell bracelet and a starfish bracelet so she can be best friends with her new mommy. All together they took me about 5 hours, not including breaks and photo shoot =D
Her hair is my favorite part. It took over and hour and it is ten rows of single strands of yarn individually sewn on. I didn't even care how tedious it was because it is such beautiful mermaid hair!
Their eyes were originally going to be buttons, but I am glad I just did sharpie instead. Their little mouths are a pink fabric marker. The decision to go with the mustache was a tough one, but in the end i am happy. I am glad i did not choose to do a goatee as well...eww.
And of course, cat shot. She is normally a ham, but I think sensing the superior beauty of the mermaid she fled, not wishing to look sub par.
Spin the arrow little ladies and find out what the future holds for you! Will you marry? And if so what kind of wife will you be? Will you even like boys, or will you be some kind of freak? All of the possible outcomes are here, just ask the one eternal father god in heaven what your destiny is, spin the arrow, and his all wise and knowing finger will guide it to your fate!
But seriously, sorry for the fuzzy image, the arrow really does spin and so it wouldn't lie flat in my scanner.
Also I plan on making a self portrait ATC in the same fashion with my image at the center and more positive roles around the outside such as : Lover, Witch, Goddess, Mother, Healer, Daughter, Wind Maker, etc.
My first attempt at a series and my first attempt at stamping EVER.
So, I now know that stamping OVER modpodge doesn't really work. But it worked out ok because the only super smudgy one is "dead" and it kinda makes sense, like the word and the animal are being worn away with time. And "dream" is a bit smudgy, which is also ok because dreams are smudgy
This was a commission for a friend's party. That friend's name is Rich...so this is also somewhat punny. This is a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. It is two layers of sheet cake, carved into a lovely big fat dark skinned dick. Yum! The cupcakes in this photo are vegan strawberry flavored with strawberry icing...and these two lucky girls are filled with thick creamy sploogey icing...also Yum! to change your image viewing settings please click here
This was my first time making such things, my first time piping and all, I think it came out ok considering. All of the recipes are my own, they are all organic and free from toxic chemicals.
They were devoured at the party, well the cupcakes were...I think most people were intimidated by the dick. They were so good!! And a lot of fun, so many wise cracks were made, and there is atleast one picture of myself being very suggestive, but I will keep that one private.
So here are my first completed polymer clay things. I have made just a few bits in the past, but never got around to painting them.
These first two are gifts for my co-worker. They are not meant to be necklaces, more of window or review mirror charms. They are painted to look like stone and have mirrors on the backs. here is the back of the swirly one. Sorry for the blurriness here. Here is the little moon baby face, naked and here is his back and the swirly naked
I hope my co-worker likes them. I am going to make them a few other things too so they will have to like something.
And here is a Godess ornament I made for our tree at work. BTW my work is a vegetarian organic cafe, so we're all pretty much hippy/wiccan/artists. I couldn't really get a good shot of her, the flash made her so shiny and no flash made her colors yucky. I did wash the mirror before hanging her. Here she is naked The idea for her was that people would see themselves in her womb and realize that we all are children of the Godess.
Thanks for looking, let me know how I did, I am still new to clay.
So I used to work at a fabric shop that had loads of vintage fabric in the basement. One day I found about 4 yards of this vintage apolstery Fabric and knew it must be a bag! (I was in a bag making craze back in 2000) So I created this: here's a shot of the cutie pocket inside
And see; it's such a good length
I am normally such a lazy crafter/sewer, but this project is actually really nicely finished, and even has one of my "handmade by..." labels on the strap. Any comments are welcome.
