1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Yummy Clippies on: October 22, 2008 01:52:39 PM
I just got into making this kind of clippies for my baby girl last week! I got my alligator clips at Sally's beauty supply....I've been using hot glue, but now I'm tempted to try using other glues to see if they are better. Your clippie set is really cute!

I received an awesome package from Babycakes. I love everything she sent.

Wall paintings of trees! I love trees!

Crocheted swiffer cover and dust mitt

I love putting on the dust mitt just to feel the softness of the yarn. I don't know if I can clean dust with this beautiful thing! LOL
Action shot:

Not one, but two half-aprons!

She also sent a pack of Magic Eraser, which I hear is very useful with kids around the house.
A pretty headscarf to keep my hair away while doing chores.
She also sent a pearl bracelet and earrings for me to look pretty while doing chores. Smiley
She also sent a taggie blanket to keep the baby busy while I do some house work.
And a crocheted dish scrubbie and pan scraper.

I love everything you sent Babycakes! Thank you so much!
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to change presser feet? on: September 23, 2008 08:30:15 PM
I'm going to try some WD40. Thanks for the tip!

I checked the package that the 3rd foot came in, and it says Roller foot! Hmm...I asked the guy for a rolled hem foot though, I might have to bring that one back.

I have a downloaded manual, which says that I can change the screw-on type feet by removing the screw and the shank should just drop off by itself. But in my machine, the shank is 'stuck'...and I don't know if it's because it's an old machine...
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / How to change presser feet? on: September 23, 2008 04:02:40 PM
I bought a used Singer Fashion Mate 22C a few months ago to teach myself some sewing.

It came with this foot, which I think is a zig-zag foot which also does straight stitching.

I've been using just this foot so far. I wanted to learn some more new things, so I went and bought 3 more feet. The guy at the store asked me what kind of foot shank I have - the snap-on kind or the screw kind. I told him I didn't know as I have never changed it before. So he checked my model number in his book and gave me these feet.

Zipper foot:

Gathering foot:

Rolled hem foot:

After reading up a little, I figured out that my machine uses both snap-on and screw kind. So the zipper one fit fine (it was a snap-on).

But I can't attach the other two (gathering and rolled hem feet) because I think they are the screw on kinds, and I can't remove the shank after removing the screw:

The shank is too tight. I applied some machine oil and used all my strength to get it off but it's not budging. Is it because its an old machine? How do I get it off so that I can attach the other feet?

9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The Happy Homemaker Swap.- CLOSED-Sendout 9-13 on: September 06, 2008 03:43:48 PM
Honey I'm home....back from switzerland, it was awesome, my jaw is still on the floor from the scenery, it was amazing, what was even more amazing to us Irish people, was 10 days of sunshine. The weather this 'summer' (ha! summer...ha!) has been atrocious, rain and rain and rain, so
colorado deb I adore those fabrics and whatever they turn into will bring some much needed sunshine into my house. I cant wait.

back to work today, after arriving back yesterday, its been an insane couple of days, but we did bring back about 20lbs of chocolate, to give away to everyone, we arrived at the airport with about $60 in swiss francs so what else could we do except convert it to chocolate....the swiss eat more choc per head than any other nation in the world, they give their soldiers chocolate in rations and they give it out on their airlines, the duty free in zurich has more chocolate shops than anything else...is that a country that knows is stuff or what??? and the quality of even the cheap supermarket stuff is fabulous...mmmmmmmm

but I have a few days now to concentrate on some serious craftiness....and to work on my chocolate consumption

I envy you for all the chocolate you got! I went to Switzerland a few months ago and LOVED it! I didn't want to come back. I couldn't take my eyes off the beautiful scenery too. I definitely want to go back sometime. How long did you go for?

In crafting new, I'm almost done with the package for my partner.....just trying to finish up some small items.
