21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Psshh....who uses patterns anyway? (Some skirts that actually turned out!!) on: July 29, 2008 06:40:58 PM

The plaid material is a vintage wool and the waistband is an interlock knit. And look! you can see my sewing machine i the left hand corner! Yay whites!

(excuse the panty line! oops.)

This is just a pretty basic pencil skirt. Originally i was going to gather the white material and make it more puffy, but as usual my project decided to take a different path. I hand embroidered 'palindrome' on the waistband, which is the name of my kinda-sorta clothing line.

Anyway, thanks for looking. I can't wait to make more skirts, they're so easy! Comments, questions, compliments, fire away!

22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I didn't 'know I loved pinafores! on: July 08, 2008 01:50:15 PM
Until i made one!! I got the idea, and a tutorial, from another post on here a while back. However, craftster's server won't let me search to find the post. Anyway, she called it a LPB (little black pinafore) and i want to thank her! I made mine a little different, i added lace on the straps, and pleated my skirt instead of gathered it. I used just an old piece of black polyester, and the whole thing took me roughly an hour to make. It's incredibly easy! So, enough talking, here it is! Thanks again to the girl that posted the original idea.

Thanks for lookin!
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Organic Bamboo Knit Top Variation on: June 05, 2008 12:20:47 AM
I bought some bamboo knit fabric, too... it's stretchy as hell and a little difficult to work with, but it's so soft and lightweight. I love it.  Grin

Yeah, I'd never actually worked with bamboo knit before, and it took me a while to get used to it. It looks so good on though! It's totally worth the trouble. The red and blue ones are actually cotton interlock knits, and thats wayyyy easier to sew, but they don't drape as nice!

That's gorgeous! Are those edges raw?

Nope, all my edges are folded over (just once) and sewn. You can leave the edges unfinished though, I thought about it, but then i decided it looked better if the seams were finished.

No, I made my own pattern. I'll work on creating a tutorial but I have absolutely no clue how to explain it! I'll try to work something out. Thanks for the comments!

So I made these for my Senior Project. I posted the original bamboo top in a post a few weeks ago, and it got a lot of feedback. So I decided to make some more out of different fabrics! Let me know what you think. I don't particularly like making tutorials (I know, I know...) but i've had a lot of suggestions for one, so I'm working on it. I'm currently busy trying to graduate high school, so I'm pretty stressed, but hopefully there will be a tute up fairly soon!

Oh my gosh! This is so incredible. I am so inspired! I just painted my room, about 2 months ago, but now that i've seen this I'm ready to repaint everything! haha. Awesome Job.

This is simply amazing. I love it!! Good job on sewing knit, by the way. I don't like knit...especially the really stretchy stuff. Wear it well!

I love that bamboo top! Is it a pattern? It looks relatively simple.

I actually made the pattern for it. I had to make the pattern pieces for all my clothes in order for my project to be legit.

Wow, thanks so much for all the comments!! Looks like I'm going to have to make more of the bamboo knit tops! (Which is nice for me, cause they're super easy to make!!) Maybe I'll start selling my stuff soon.....hmm. I'll keep ya posted about that.
