1  Re: 4x6 art swap rd 2 **gallery!** in The Swap Gallery by carinafox5 on: May 21, 2012 07:02:46 PM
Ok... after a little bit of a wait... I am posting the contents of my awesome package Smiley I was in bed all day Saturday sick with a nasty stomach flu with my 6 year old... We slept pretty much the whole day away... And, then, Sunday afternoon my daughter told me that my package had come!! I was super excited!! I couldn't have gotten it at a better time!!
AND..... there were TWO 4x6s!!! Smiley I feel special! Wink I am not sure if our partners are the same as we sent to... or if partners were all different and mixed... But, I want to say thank you for these 2 lovely pieces of art! (If it was yzag... thank you..)

They compliment each other so well! I love the colors, too. They're my favorites. The embellishments gave it the perfect touch! I will find a place to display them both together Smiley Thank you, again!!

and links to more detail...

2  Re: Altered Puzzle Pieces, Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by carinafox5 on: January 24, 2012 07:46:02 PM
Hi all! It's been a hectic couple of months here! JillHogan and I swapped a couple of pieces also... And,  I received Nov 19th... (I wasn't in a hurry to receive, but feel bad I didn't post these very quickly) and this was right in the middle of a huge illness in our household.. My 6 yr old son and I took turns with a horrible case of strep and he ended up with really bad bacterial pneumonia that involved hospital/urgent care visits and daily double shots of rocephin. (We also learned the hard way towards the end of the pneumonia that he is allergic to z-pack... :/ It was awful.) He was still under the weather for the most part when my husband's relatives came to stay with us for 9 days over Christmas. Anyhow, it's just been crazy around here! To top it off.. I went looking for these pieces last week to snap a pic... and it turned into a huge scavenger hunt :/ lol And, as of late... we have been focused on his new autism treatment but, at least everything else seems to have settled a bit. Long story short... things are starting to slow down now. Soooo... I wanted to make sure I posted these pics of JillHogan's Labyrinthy puzzly goodness before any more time passed. Sorry it took me a bit, Jill... It's been crazy. I love them! Thanks so much for swapping with me =D

What a cute little worm ^_^ "'Ello!"

every time I see this one... I just have to finish the phrase.... "...such a pity..." lol <3 it Smiley

Yay! I am glad everything made it unscathed Smiley It was hard to let the earrings go.. and my daughter tried to claim them as hers.. lol! So, now I have to make her a pair of them as well :/

You can cut/style Alice's hair however you'd like.. I left it a bit crazy for hysteria mode look. (I always try to leave some items still cutomizable) I need to buy some more of that yarn! I love it... Thick and smooth with sequins to make it all dreamy-like Smiley I had fun putting the doll in different positions and balancing her hair to look all flowy like in the game LMAO! Hubby told me that I have issues Wink Like I didn't already know! Oh... and why am I not surprised you opened her up to inspect her stuffing? Tongue lol I didn't have very many heart button colors to choose from... and couldn't do red... she's nearly dead Tongue Blue it was Wink Every since my Raggedy Ann doll when I was a kid.... I believe ALL stuffies need a heart! Smiley

The "painting" (hope the middle part isn't coming off- one pic kinda looked that way :/ ) was just an extra... but.. you can add crazy slasher text to it if you'd like. I thought about it... But, figured you may like a particular quote etc..  and the clam girl just had to be in this swap somehow. I just think they're too cute lol. The yarn was just my extra stuff to make the package fluffy and not use styrofoam peanuts in any empty space lol Wink

I'll be sending out that EXTRA extra we talked about in a couple of days.. just have to figure out where I am sending from this time Smiley

Glad everything was well received and in one piece!!
Thanks for a great swap GrindHouseHussy!!!!!!!   -and yes, I hope to chat again with you soon Smiley

edited to add a couple pictures of the Alice doll for size reference Smiley and, just because she was my first ever crochet project other than 1 scarf I made from all half-double crochet stitch! She's wonky.. but, I miss her lol

Also... the candy is all quite yummy, too!! Gavin has run off with the wooden walrus lightswitch plate Wink He is also using the ball as a squeeze ball Wink Good therapy for him as he is low muscle tone.  Gavin thanks you, too! Smiley

I received a couple of days ago from zigg13pra

I love the scapbook papers you used Wink I treated myself to the same book of paper on my birthday this year as part of my birthday spree at hobby lobby! I can't bring myself to use it as it's just too pretty. It totally works in my theme! Thank you so much! So, now if I don't get the rest of my pieces traded out... I'll have to use some of my pretty paper Wink The gold glitter accenting you did worked really well, too! Normally, I wouldn't be a fan of gold. But, this works beautifully Smiley  Thank you.

From carinafox5

Love the details and texture!  The piece with the panda has a really cool crackle paint texture.  Carina, do you mind sharing how you did that?  She also included some extra monsters in the package!  Thank you!!  Cheesy

Glad ya liked them Smiley Actually, I've gotten back onto the crackle bandwagon since I have done my nails that way a few times of late lol! But, there is a product called... Delta Crackle Medium and you brush it on in one even coat over a dy color... or no color if you prefer and your paper is the color you want the background cracks to be.. and then wait about 15 min or until the stuff is tacky... not dried but not at all wet. and then... paint your top color over it and watch it do its magic Smiley It's my fav background technique Smiley It's always different every time it dries.

I must apologize that I haven't posted stickerchic's pictures in a few days. I also received sushipanda's on Wednesday. My son has been sick for over a week now. So, things just keep getting crazier around here... But, here they are.. and they are all perfect Smiley

stickerchic chose some great quotes from each movie in my fantasy theme list. I love each one of them Smiley I can totally hear Sarah responding "It's a piece of cake!" lol and picture the Lord of Darkness about to be pulled into the abyss saying he is a part of us all :)Thank you, stickerchic!!

sushipanda made some awesome pieces, too! Each one makes me hear a line from the movie in my head Smiley My sickly little guy LOVES the owl and I am hoping he doesn't run off with it again. That could be bad! lol  The clock one.. every time I look at it.. I hear Jareth say.. "You have 13 hours in which to solve the labyrinth, before your baby brother becomes one of us forever, such a pity!" I don't know if I got the quote correct in my head, but when I look at it... that is what I hear! lol I love them. Thanks, sushipanda Smiley

JillHogan, your personal swap pieces I did were still tacky the day I sent the rest. And, I haven't been able to drive to the post office since as every time I try to take my son anywhere more then 5 min. away.. I end up cleaning his carseat Sad I am hoping he starts feeling better by this afternoon. He's been sick for over a week. (I thought he was ok on Wednesday... the school called me an hour after drop off telling me to come get him. ) If not, I will go to the post office tomorrow hopefully while hubby is home to stay with him. I am so hoping he starts feeling better by tomorrow evening. I spent about 50 bucks on tickets to the Thomas the Train event in Burnet tomorrow :/ Been wanting to take him every year since he was 2 but he's been sick just about every time. Cross your fingers for me Smiley

I have had these for a couple of days now, just opened them lastnight. I debated opening until I had all of mine done. But, I couldn't resist. These are the awesome pieces from Hollycopter! I love them!!! One piece even has a tiny version of a little guy I have on my wist Smiley Thank you soooo much!!!

I love the scene that this quote is taken from Smiley

This piece is too cute! and, yes, that's a marble on there... or should I say... "it's a crystal, nothing more...." lol

a few close ups Smiley

and, together Smiley

aren't they just awesome? Smiley
Thank you again!!!

sidenote to check in:
Still working on my partners' pieces.. I have been super super busy and sick at the same time :/ Unfortunately, the fires all around our area have been wreaking havoc on my allergies and my son's asthma and allergies to boot. Been having a bunch of issues with him gasping and choking while trying to breathe. One of the fires was at the entrance of my neighborhood:/  Seems to always work that way with me, every time I set aside time to do something fun... life makes things crazy around me lol! oh and my printer decided to die on me grrrr! So, it's made things interesting to say the least! lol

9  Re: Three Tiny Movie Things Rnd 2 in The Swap Gallery by carinafox5 on: June 30, 2011 05:49:44 PM
I received from costumesaremylife today... and boy did it brighten up my afternoon Smiley I absolutely love every little bit of it Smiley and my youngest son has run off with a certain stuffie already Wink
Thank you costumesaremylife!!

Without any further delay... here are my awesome goodies!

First up, a comical hoop for my LotR obsession! I knew right away what it was and the exact scene it came from! I love it!!

Second, right from my wist!!!! A set of 10 pebble magnets including Labyrinth characters!! AND even a Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole one .. AND a UNICO one!!! I absolutely adore Unico! And, it's a safe bet that nobody else has Unico on their fridge!

Third, and my son's favorite... a very cute and well made little felt stuffed owl (looks like Soren to me ^_^ ) He is now hidden somewhere, as my son thinks it belongs to him! lol

She even sent an extra... a mini metal lunchbox for my littlest guy and myself to decorate. I am thinking we will do a safari theme and put his take along buddy in it Wink (We allow him to take one model/realistic miniature animal with him when we go somewhere.. He says "Get friend?" lol Soo, perhaps he can make it up like a little travel case for his "friends".
and she included a pretty handmade card:

Here is a shot of all of my goodies all together!!

and, here is an action shot of my little monkey hiding the little stuffie, Soren, inside his toy dragon's egg!

Thank you so much costumesaremylife! This was a fun swap!  and an added bonus... I get to take something off of my wist! WOOT!! Smiley

Such better photography skills than me! I'm glad you posted these pictures to show it off some more!
lol nah.. just got some white paper and used my bright as daylight kitchen lights and hoped for the best lol! Craftster makes the pics kind of grainy.. here's a cropped pic on froggy

I was hoping for closer ups! What is the little thingie on the inside side of the sink? I just love the guts, they are so teensy weensy and incredible, just amazing detail.
The "sink" is part of a charm I lucked out on.. I kept part of the finding on it to look like a plug Wink It came from a pack of 3 "Industrial Chic" charm set.. an accent hung in front of the tub part and the whole thing hung vertically. Though, in my crafting fog.. I totally forgot the knobs to turn on the sink.. but I did remember bubbles LOL!

wow.. should not have magnified it THAT much! lol look at my fingerprints Tongue and my work is totally not without a ton of flaws lol!
