1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Blackwork on: March 19, 2009 03:52:21 AM
I am new to cross stitching.  My teacher introduced us to blackwork 2 weeks ago & I fell in love with it.  Here is my first blackwork piece .

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / First Simple Ragdoll on: October 31, 2008 06:04:36 AM
Please, please, be honest! I can take it. I'm not posting to get my ego stroked. I want and need constructive help. Smiley  Ignore the piece of thread on the face. I don't know how that stray thread landed there! Smiley

I need help making this doll look right.  What can I do to the next one to make it better?  Is it the hair?  I know the mouth is kooky. Should I scrap the whole pattern?  My 26 yo daughter said, & I quote, "That is the ugliest doll I have ever seen."

Thanks in advance for your help.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pencil Roll on: October 21, 2008 07:47:50 AM
Hi, I had been admiring the pencil rolls on this site - I finally made one.  It's for my grandson.  It measures approx. 10X27" and holds 21 pencils.  I did make a fatter slot at the beginning of the roll to hold a pencil sharpener. It is held closed with a piece of elastic.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / VERY basic water bottle carrier on: October 11, 2008 06:06:41 PM
This is the simple water bottle carrier I whipped up for my grandson, who just had to have one.  I didn't feel like going through the major hassle that I did when I made my own insulated one.  This is simply a leg of a pair of denim shorts, no lining, no insulation.  I also just sewed the botton shut straight across.  I didn't even box the corners, it was just too thick.  It is unlined so I did a french seam on the side seam to make it just a little neater.  It holds a 16 ounce bottle.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Simplicity 9949-view G on: October 10, 2008 05:51:13 PM
Hi, this is my first ever gusseted zipper. It's not perfect, but the bag is totally usable.  I can't get a decent close up of the zipper, sorry.  The bag is approx. 4" X 7".

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / "Angel Bag" on: September 18, 2008 03:53:23 AM
This is the Angel Bag I made from a pattern off the internet.  I don't remember where I got the pattern, but you can google "angel bag" and get it.  It's about 12X6 inches.  It is made from leftover denim & the plaid is an old sheet I got at the thrift store.  In the original version, the plaid is to be on both sides, but I couldn't get the plaid on both sides to line up right, so I just omitted the one side and made it from denim instead.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Studio Kat on: June 24, 2008 02:25:33 PM
Has anybody used any of the Studio Kat purse/tote patterns? Which one? What's your opinion of them? Are the directions easy to understand? etc. I like most of the bags but am worried that the instructions will be unclear or the actual bag will be too complicated for me. I am a beginner. Smiley
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Simplicity 7161 on: May 16, 2008 03:30:49 PM
I made each of the bags in the pattern. They all turned out very nice, except the one with the tied handle. I didn't care for that one. The handle just didn't tie very nicely. Here are pictures of bag "C" that I made for my daughter(black corduroy) & granddaughter(cotton) .

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Simplicity #9949 on: May 16, 2008 03:21:35 PM
b]This is a wonderful pattern. The totes are just the right size & easy to make. The pink one I added velcro to close it. The black one has no closure. I don't know if you can tell, but there are 3 outside pockets on both the front & back sides of the bag. I highly recommend this pattern.[/b]/color]

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Wonder Wallet on: May 16, 2008 03:11:10 PM
This is my first Wonder Wallet by Lazy Girl. I was surprised that there were no "pattern pieces". Some parts of the instructions were confusing to me, but I muddled through. It is roomy & the coins really don't fall out. I wasn't in love with it enough to ever make another one.
