1  COOKING / Dessert / Onesie Cake for a friend on: September 12, 2011 04:38:56 AM
My friend is having a boy and I was asked to make her cake. I had never done a "onesie" before so I had to buy a pkg of them for inspiration. It is all done in buttercreme frosting.
I think it turned out pretty cute.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Strapless to Striped Prom Dress on: April 27, 2010 03:21:51 AM
So I decided to try to make my daughters dress this time. With her in school and working and me waiting til the last minute to decide how I was going to do it, ( I like to change my mind every 5 minutes Undecided) I ended up doing the whole thing the day before Prom and then hurry up and fit it like an hour before they left for the evening. I also decided that his tie needed to match since he is the one who loves Hot Pink. LOL
So I started with this dress she had hanging in her closet that was a handme down from a friend.

And the after photos....

Of course it had to be a rainy day for Prom.....

This is the dress that was the inspiration for the final product unfortunetly I didn't get the skirt part done. They were both happy with the outcome and got lots of comments on the dress and the tie. Everyone wanted to know where they found a tie to match and were surprized when she told them her mom made it. They said "Wow Cool!" I guess that's the best compliment a mom can ask for when teenagers think something is Cool!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / backsack on: February 04, 2009 05:42:16 AM
My son needed a backsack to carry his wrestling gear in. The one he had (cheap feebie from a ballgame this summer) was a little too small for all the gear (shoes, knee pads, headgear...etc.) and was starting to fall apart. I found the fabric at joann's in the remnant bin. The fabric was heavy enough ( trouser type) that I didn't have to line it so I just zigzagged the raw edges. $3-$4 dollars total for the whole bag, rather than $15 the school wanted for one, and he'll be able to find his faster in the huge pile of bags after practice or meets. The bag measures 18"w x 22"h.

He thought it was pretty neat. (aww... SaWeet! actually) Cool
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fish Bone Messenger on: November 02, 2008 12:20:55 PM
So I made this bag for my 14yr old son. He's into skulls which most teenagers are around here, and since our last name is "Fish" I used fish bones for the front. I took bits and pieces from his old backpack and the rest is just scraps I had. At least everyone will know who's bag it is. It's "Fishy's".
Well on to the pics hope ya like.

5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / My Big/Little "Monster" on: November 02, 2008 11:11:50 AM
Here is my Monster. I got the idea while sitting in my breakroom at work. A couple of the guys drink these things every night. My 14yr old also likes them but I don't like him to drink them. All I did was buy 2 small hula hoops grabbed a couple of large pieces of cardboard for the can top from work, 3yrds of black material from wally world, duct tape, a roll of silver wrapping paper to cover the cardboard and neon green and yellow paint for the M and pop top. I didn't get all of the details I would have liked to have gotten done before the big night but I didn't start it until Halloween morning. My son loved it and he got alot of comments when he went out that night. On to the pics.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Back to School purse on: August 28, 2008 06:36:49 PM
Just finished a new bag for my 16yr old. She was suppose to make it and I was going to help her. Well she cut it out and I did the rest. Go Figure! The sewing machine just doesn't like her. (So she says Wink) It is basically the same way I made the Chocolate & Cream bag I posted a couple of weeks ago except it is about 2 inches deeper and she wanted the handles longer and at the top of the bag, so she can sling it over her shoulder. The outside fabric is baby cord and the body of the lining is a black canvas.(for stability) I did have to use interfacing on the top band because of the cord fabric being so light weight.
She picked out the fabrics and likes the idea that none of the other girls will have one like it.
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Chocolate & Cream Prototype on: August 15, 2008 07:10:15 PM
Well I finally got up the nerve to post one of the purses I've made. I made this about a month ago. Usually I like a shoulder strap but had this idea floating around in my head and gave it a try. I'm kinda liking the smaller size, not as much room in there to stuff a bunch of junk so I can actually find my stuff when I need it. (Don't you hate that! You know it's in there you just can't ever find it!)
Any whoo! I got the fabric at Big Lot's a 2 yrd piece for $5. I also got a lime green in the same pattern. It remains uncut as of yet. I tried to match the pattern so the font and back are the same and the top inside and out are the same with just a scrap of beige for the lining.
