Terrific gift and excellent craftmanship. This is the kind of thing a kid will play with forever --  learning all the way.   ModgePodge was the best choice to cover the words.  A kid probably couldn't resist the urge to peal off contact paper.
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: HELP~ I HAVE to know how to do THIS kind of WEARABLE ART ruffle felting on: December 03, 2008 04:42:19 PM
I agree with Jane Doe as to using the direction of the fiber layout to create different shrinkage amounts.  If the center of the scarf shrinks lengthwise more than the edges, you'll get ruffled edges.  Two really great resources on felting are the DVD "Featherweight Felt" by Sharon Costello and the book "Uniquely Felt" by Christine White. (The best, most comprehensive and well written and illustrated book I've seen on the subject.)  Both are likely available on Amazon.com.

Terrific and so very camp!  I really think you ought to send it to the candidate or at least e-mail him a jpeg of it.  I'm sure his wife and girls would get a kick from it.

Nice raftwomanship!

Nice work:  Have you thought of submitting it to the Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine?

Nice work!
I like that the organs (heart, brain, lungs, ovaries) are arranged like a totem in an interesting order. I've always been fascinated with anatomical drawings and medical art and have considered using bone drawings as silkscreen to fabric designs.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: sugar skull messenger bag (img overload) on: June 10, 2008 05:33:11 PM
I love the color and design --  Nice!

One thing though --  this isn't cross stitch --  at least I don't see any cross stitch in it --

Cross stitch is made of crosses or Xs.

What you've done is embroidery using several different types of stitches -- none of which are cross stitch.

But no matter --  it's quite wonderful.
