That is soooooo cute! I really like it as is actually. Especially if you're planning on making some wasabi for the key ring. You might want to throw in some pickled ginger too. Cheesy

I absolutely LOVE it!! How creative! You've given me a great idea for some material I've been wondering what to do with too!
63  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: ideas with basil??? on: August 10, 2008 07:07:32 PM
One of my favorite meals in the world is just sliced up tomato and avocado, veggie brand cheese alternative and whole basil leaves stuffed inside a pita. This is assuming you have fresh basil on hand of course.  Wink

I also recently found a recipe for Basil-Lime Sorbet that sounds phenomenal:

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
20 fresh basil leaves, minced

DIRECTIONS

Make a simple syrup by bringing the sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan; allow to boil 1 minute; remove from heat.
Combine the syrup, lime juice, and basil in a blender; puree. Pour the mixture into a container and cover; store in freezer until completely frozen, about 2 hours.
Break the frozen mixture into pieces and place in the blender; blend until smooth. Return to the container and cover. Store in freezer until ready to serve

Makes 8 servings
64  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Treasure Chest... YARRGGGHH! on: August 09, 2008 12:22:45 PM
My husband's uncle made him this wooden box to store his amp head in when he was in a band a few years back. It was painted black with the band logo on the top of it. Since the band has broken up the box has been sitting in my living room with a blanket over it. I don't have any before pictures, but its' not hard to use your imagination and picture a big black box - lol. After obtaining permission from my husband to distroy the box as he once loved and knew it I worked on turning it into a treasure chest/bench seat. It's really handy to sit on while trying to tie your shoes or whatever and inside there is a lot of storage space. It goes well with my beach themed living room too. Cheesy

Thanks for the great feedback! That ceiling fan bugs me too!! They actually plan on changing it and have for quite some time now. There is a lot of furniture in that room as well. It was a new experience rearranging in tight quarters. My house is very roomy and has 8 foot ceilings so working with a small ranch was rather difficult. I'm just glad my parents liked it! My mother had polio when she was a child so she can't work and isn't really able to do much physically. With my father working 50+ hours a week and traveling for his job a lot they just can't get a lot done around the house like they wish they could. They're actually going away again this fall and my brother and I are already planning the dinning room as their anniversary present.  Wink

While my parents went on vacation for a week me, my husband and brother decided to paint and slightly redecorate my parents living room. My mother was SHOCKED and soooooo happy with the results. I love my parents, but their house suffered from NO COLOR syndrome. I helped put an end to that.  Grin Here are the before and after photos... tell me what you think!!
