I made this FL postcard for someone from postcrossing. It was my first time making one. The person liked it well enough, so for that I'm happy. The pic is a little blurry sorry. I was rushing to take it before giving it up.
Well, I've actually been a member for about a month now, but I never noticed this board, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Eve or Evie...more Evie than Eve, or just tigrisgalaxy. I don't even remember how I found this site, but about January...maybe, I found it, probably by searching for ideas for Altered Books, but after I found it. I just kinda lurked around, looking at almost every post I could get, because I never knew there was a site like this before, where you could show the things you've created. I don't really do just one thing, but I like paper stuff and making my own jewelry and purses and stuff. I usually come to this site right after I check my email, sometimes before. It's kinda an addiction, but I love crafting and creating. Art=sanity.
OMG! I cannot believe it! I have a rip/hole/stitches undone in my fused plastic purse! I don't even know how it got there. I just looked down and there it was...the big ugly hole! Now I have to figure out how to fix it/cover it up, somehow. Any ideas?
This may not be worldwide kinda stuff, but I really want to do is a community art project of some sort. It doesn't have to be just community. It could be everywhere kinda project. It's just I have no idea how to go about it. The PostSecret and 1000Journals would be cool, but I can't go around copying. I think all art can bring about a change for someone, and it would be cool to make that happen. I thought maybe something to do with poems, but I don't know what yet. If any of you have any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't think people understand that the pressure to make something good each time you make something is extremely tiring. I mean, I can't even draw a straight line...with a ruler...they're always crooked! I make something and people are like, "can I have one of those?" I don't even know how I made the one they see, which most definitely isn't the first one I make...it's more like the third or fourth. That takes up a ton of time! It makes me wanna scream! I love crafting, but I'm really just experimenting with different things, before I start selling things. Ooy, the pressure gets to you after a couple hours of trying to make something by a deadline!
I really want to start altering books, but it seems like my attention span goes to nil after I finish like one or two pages. Is there anything you guys do to keep yourself focussed?
And I have no idea really how to do it. I know there isn't a specific way, but I've seen some of the pages of other peoples books on here and I'm floored. I don't know how people make there's so....cool, all the time. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Oh, and another thing...what are the best kinds of books to use? Because the couple of books I've used...stink on ice. Thanks, everybody.
So my parents gave me this filing cabinet, which is filled with tons of crafty supplies and writing things, but the top,(don't have a before pic), was ewww. It was all rusty and I could not bear looking at it. At first, I was going to paint it, but I wanted to try decoupaging something. I figured this would be a good time to start. I used Wuzzles and a few Baby Blues comics from the newspaper. I'm ok with how it looks for my first try. I used Mod Podge. I was afraid I would use it all, but I didn't, so I was really glad about that.
I needed to make a thank you card for someone that gave me some clothes, and I wanted it to be different...that should be my motto "I wanted it to be different"...so I saw my "Bend Me, Shape Me" book and thought, "Oh, yeah, have to make that into a card." And this is what I got. You can see my really terrible handwriting and my...kindergarten painting. I don't usually paint that bad, but the space is cd-sized.
