101  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: my pointy kitties got their play / learn place in livingroom on: May 15, 2008 09:40:30 PM
what cuties! and i love the kitty run too.

how about isa? comme isabelle, parce que apres tous elle est belge & j'aime la prononciation de "isa" en francais (plutot que quand on le dit en anglais)

I thought Isabelle (Isa for short) as soon as I saw her too! I don't know why, but she strikes me as one. Very girly... look at that pose! Peut-tre elle sera mannequin? Elle est vraiment belle! (hopping on the French train... pardon my mistakes, I'm a little rusty).
102  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Hmmm...cat bed or fancy litterbox? on: May 15, 2008 09:22:54 PM
That's a really cute bed...uh...litter box?; love the fabric and the (now detached and squished) pompom. I think pets just have an odd way of appreciating the things we give them. It's so nice to hear your rescued that girl and are taking care of her and appreciating her the way she deserves!  Cheesy
103  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Flying Homer! on: May 15, 2008 08:11:28 PM
That's excellent, I love it! He looks just perfect in the plane. And in the shot before getting into the cockpit, he looks kind of like he's reaching out for something... maybe a donut?  Tongue
104  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: IKEA cushion with photos - personalize your pillows on: May 15, 2008 08:06:55 PM
That's a great idea! Those pillows would be great on a couch; if you're sick at home, alone and watching TV, it's like some of your favorite people are with you!  Cheesy
105  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Paper Flower Arrangement! on: May 14, 2008 09:31:59 PM
Oooo, so pretty! I'd love to have that in my kitchen to brighten it up! Way to go with all of the recycled materials too! You may have just given me an idea for something to do with all those "Mid-Week Values!"  Smiley
106  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: A pillow, some scarves, and a sock monkey, VERY HEAVY IMG! on: May 14, 2008 03:28:26 PM
That pillow is GORGEOUS! I love the scarves and the sock monkey as well. Tell your son you can crochet socks too, so you just skipped a step!  Wink
107  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Nametags for Camp! on: May 14, 2008 03:07:50 PM
Those are great! So cute and creative! I wish we'd had something like that back in my days at a camp instead of giant neon shoestrings. I can see why your friends love them!

I love, love, love the wall with the quote! It's an awesome accent and really breaks up the space. The tv stand has me drooling as well. I have an affinity for yellow furniture. I am so jealous of your apartment, and you did a great job with it!

I don't have too much to offer to this thread, but I thought I'd give my two cents. The Goodwill in Apex across from Beaver Creek Commons was pretty good to me. I've only been there twice, but I know people who shop there much more frequently and rave about it. When I was first furnishing my apartment I got a coat rack ($5) small bookcase ($7) and twin headboard ($10) that were all solid hardwood. No nicks or scratches even, just a little dirty. I might have just gotten lucky, but it was a pretty good haul!

Ornamentea (www.ornamentea.com) in Raleigh is really nice. It's a small store where you can make jewelry (or just purchase findings, beads, etc.) and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I've only been once, but definitely plan on going back.

In Carrboro at Carr Mill Mall there's a beading store and a fabric/sewing store. I don't know much about them, but the fabric store is called Mulberry Silks (www.mulberrysilks.n et). I've only been in a couple times for brief periods, but they have a great selection and just got in some cute Japanese fabrics. They also have TONS of buttons. I have to go back and learn more before making any judgments though.

110  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / Re: Stores that sell handmade items in Raleigh/Chapel Hill on: May 13, 2008 04:09:10 PM
I'm a little late on this (just joined and was browsing the regional board  Grin), but you might try Cameron's in University Mall in Chapel Hill, they sell lots of cute handmade things, but I have no idea what their buying is like. Also, Cup A Joe in Timberlyne shopping center sells some local art. I don't know about crafts, but the cup cozies might go over well! And I second WomanCraft. Global Village is an excellent coffee house (I've known a handful of people who worked there), but none of them have ever heard of a piece of the art or pottery being sold, and personally I've never seen the pottery move. You could ask about the cup cozies there, though. The owner is very eco-minded. Good luck!  Smiley
