1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Re: not-so-mini me (meet Chicky, my new, customized dress form!) on: June 12, 2009 11:00:16 PM
I LOVE this!

I bought a dressform at my old work, and measured carefully, ordered the closes size (which was correct, theoretically) and payed big bucks even with employ-ie discount. Unfortunately, I am shaped like a box. and no amount of fiddling made it work right. So "M" is sitting in my garage, put back in her box.

I now have hope, thank you.

I can't wait to see what you make with Chicky!

Have fun!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Yet another "52" reasons book (pics added IMG OBESE) on: February 12, 2009 07:55:00 PM
Oh, man. You are so cool! I like the way you respect the most dangerous four-letter word! Much props on that!

So, my best friend and I are super tight. Its kinda weird, because we spent the entire semester of our first class together (drawing) ignoring the other because I thought she was a stuck-up artist-snob and she thought I was a poser! Ahh, college! The second to last class we were talking to someone (I knew them from HS and she sat next to her all sem) and we found out we had been in the same mental hospital during out tremulous teen years. We shared a cigarette and have been insperable ever since! Funny, how the world works...

So, this is our second Valentines Day together, and our second VD as eachothers dates. We never seem to be able to keep boys around...

I bought a deck of cards, and am currently locked in my study with bins of markers, crayons, glue, and scrapbook paper.

The theam? 52 reasons Kris is AWESOME AND AMAZING!
(we have an ongoing joke of a magical ven diagram, one circle Awesome, ect)

She turned 20 last Saturday, and I'm poor, so I kinda flaked on the present-thing. I made her a tiara out of paper that said "Nobody cares about my ANGST anymore" and an anti-card. (we both hate cards) I intend to make up for it!

Its 9:53, Feb 12. I have no digital camera, and my printer is broken. This will be done old-school!

(can you tell I'm excited?)
3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / Re: "I like you America" Gun Cozy on: February 12, 2009 11:22:47 AM
You have won my heart with this.

I can't legaly own a gun because of "mental illness", but I'm fine with that.

I had never fired a gun until last year, I was having a terrible day and my good friend took me to his grandparent's house to shoot bbs at the shed.

I cheered up instantly.

So, I'm perfectly fine not owning a gun.

But this cozie is CRAZY!

Haha, good job!
4  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenges / Re: Craft Challenge #36 - Craft a Favorite Song - Due Mar 1 - Mar 5 2009 on: February 12, 2009 10:34:27 AM
Okay, I'm probably really dumb, but I've never done a challenge before, so I was wondering if a veteran could help me...

I live for music, and I have been wanting to get more involved in craftster, so, what better opportunity?

Anyway, I did a search and looked around to see if there were any specific rules, life in swaps or something, but I didn't find anything.

Anyway, if there are any unspoken rules, or written rules that I just overlooked, or even just tips or something to help me on my way, I would be happy to hear them. If you want to.

So, thats it! I have a hundred songs that would be amazing crafts, it isn't a concept that is new to me, once my best friend gave me a "therapy" assignment to paint a favorite song. I did November by Azure Ray. It was so much fun! The hardest part I imagine would be choosing and then sticking with a single song! But somehow, I think I'll manage...

Um, newbie, over and out!

(Oh god, I'm such a dork!)
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Kids favors, heart-shaped crayons on: February 10, 2009 09:38:00 AM
Wow, this is really neat!

I did something similar once, I made multiculor crayons but I used regualr cupcake foil tins, so they look like trippy reeces peanut butter cups.

Anyway, I never really liked coloring with them all that much, but I like to melt crayons when working on art or in my sketchbook or something. I really liked how these turned out. I either hold the crayon and lighter over the page and let it drip, or  I heat a portion of the crayon and draw the melty goodness on.

Its very fun, and looks a little more interesting than just plain crayon.

Oh, also, I have a small woodburning tool, and it has a flat head attachment thats about the size and shape of a nickle. I use that sometimes to melt the crayon or draw on the paper with solid crayon, then melt the crayon AFTER its on the paper by rubbing the flat head on it. You just have to cover the paper pretty thoroughly/thickly for it to work well without burning the paper.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: I am a Fancy Pirate arrrg on: January 22, 2009 09:28:19 PM
Super cute! As for what to wear it with, I recently discoverd the magic of not matching. Not like clashing colors, but not worring about color schemes so much, if it looks good, I'll wear it together. It has been very liberating for me. But if you aren't quite into that, yes, black would be awesome, but also, try complementary colors. From the pics the fabric looks kinda maroon to me, so maybe a muted shade of green? It can be hard not to look like christmas in July, but I think a nice deep sage or something should work well.

Anyway, I love it, good job!

Amazing!  Grin Alleluia! Kiss I started making the dress but I want it to have fluffy sleeves. Can you tell me of a way that i can go about this? (I haven't tried to tackle sleeves yet, never mind fluffy ones!) Hope you can help and if you can't thats okay.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=75272.10<< this tute tells you how to make puffy sleeves Cheesy
thx! very helpful! And I probably would have never found it!

How did you attach the sleeves to the dress? I have some really bad scars on my arm and I need them covered, so its either attach sleeves on this or ALWAYS wear a shirt under it (ugg)

Thank you!
