1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Joann roving?? on: February 03, 2009 07:56:56 PM
Maybe I am wrong about the meat breads, I just read it somewhere, lol.  My aunt has a bunch of babydoll sheep (Southdown) and felting with it was nearly impossibe if you wanted a firm felted item like I did.  I can't imagine spinning with it either because the fiber though very soft, is really short.

Felting wool can be from some of the meat sheep, and the wool isn't really great for spinning.  I did take some of my felting wool and mix little blobs of it in with some lemon lime koolaid wool I had dyed for spinning.  I intentionally left little chunks and bits.  I plied it with a plain green strand.  The yarn was so funky looking, and made the cutest little fingerless gloves.
3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: What's your dream wheel? on: January 26, 2009 09:45:19 AM
I tried an Ashford Joy double treadle at my LYS and I fell in love immedietely.  I didn't even try any of the other wheels, because I only had eyes for the Joy.  Just like my high school boyfriend, I wasn't impressed with it's appearance at first.  I tried it because I needed a good folding wheel.  I found a place online that does layaway, so maybe I really can get it.

4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Re: My trading cards. BOring? on: January 21, 2009 01:06:49 PM
Thank you lylacfey.  Maybe I don't need dodads after all.  Thank all of you for looking and answering.  If I ask my husband what he thinks of something, he kind of glances, and says "yeah that's really nice" and either he likes just about everything I do, or he doesn't want to tell me what he thinks, or as I suspect, just has no real opinion one way or another. It helps to hear from other people.

Thank you panthermoon, I used watercolor pencils, I enjoyed using them so much I just bought a bunch more.

Thank you Weddy_in_Paris, I had so much fun drawing the fairies I will probably do more.

I just got so intimidated looking at all the trading cards everyone else has made.  I love the vintage looking collages, and some of the cards are just hard to believe that they are so tiny because they are so detailed.  Cheesy

I'm not positive because I don't remember how tall a child wearing 3T is but the Dahnia and Darby patterns are 27" and very nice.  Might be what you are looking for.

They are all amazing!  He is so right about shading, it makes all the difference in the world.
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: what can you see? on: January 19, 2009 12:43:47 PM
I see eyes in the dark part up to the right. Not a whole head, but eyes looking through a mist.  Spooky.  I don't see a head in the white part.  Wild.  I like it!

I thought I would share the link to some of my portraits.  They aren't new, as I foolishly allowed most of my newer drawings out the door without taking pictures. (They were gifts and I was in a hurry.)

I don't have many trading cards, and the few I have have been entirely hand drawn.  No collage, no neat doodads added.  I feel kind  of boring.  I made these for a friend.  Input?
