2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Gossip Girl Party? on: September 10, 2009 11:21:02 AM
I threw a surprise Gossip Girl birthday party last year for my ex-friend!!!  It was sooo much fun.  I made everyone dress up which of course they all complained about at first and then had a ton of fun with.  They're asking for a repeat this year.  Here's what I did.

Banner saying "Happy Birthday, Darling Alicia" in french

sliver, pale blue, and pale green streamers on the ceiling and hanging down the walls.  my roommate ended up liking these so much we kept them up all year.

Candlelight!!!! it sets the mood

I made a cake and put pale blue and pale green fondant on it in polka dots because those are one of her favorite things.  i'm not that great with fondant but it looked cute.

made the birthday girl a tiera out of wire and beads

plastic fake flutes for sparkling grape juice

for food, besides the cake, we did a mix of fresh fruit (starfruit, strawberries, raspberries, etc) and candy

after the suprise we pulled out a game cube and played keroke revolution because thats what we do when we "party", but it was fun, nonetheless.

heres the link to my facebook photo album.  the beginning you can see the decorations, the rest is just pictures of my friends Smiley  hope this helps !  http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2360989&ref=name#/album.php?aid=2558219&id=2360989
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Metal Magazine Bag on: May 01, 2009 02:07:36 PM
so I was looking at the tut you linked to and its obviously a little different.  I've never done any woven stuff before (but of course always wanted to) so I was a little confused as to how you changed the tut to fit your needs (only fold the magazine 2 times instead of 3? do 20 accross instead of 10?  how did you get the sides? and how did you attach the handle??)

sorry for all the questions...
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Roaring 20s Theme Club meeting on: October 08, 2008 12:32:15 PM
so I'm in a service club and once a month we have theme meetings.  In late November we're having a Roaring 20s theme and I have 20$ to spend for decorations and an activity but I don't know what to do!!!  I already know I want to buy cardboard and spray paint it black and cut out like a guy on a trumpet, etc.  and I'm going to have to find jazz music and I'm making flapper dresses out of t-shirts for executive board (inspiration from Generation T... has anyone made this? Any tips or problems?)  what are some other ideas to make a boring room into a speak-easy (without alcohol)?
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Amazing figurine: Rory Gilmore from "Gilmore Girls" on: October 08, 2008 11:57:07 AM

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The I Miss Gilmore Girls Swap Gallery! on: October 08, 2008 05:40:37 AM
YAYYYY!  So I've been checking my mail every day for like 2 weeks waiting for my package and then I got home yesterday and found out it came in!!!
and this is what I got when I opened it up Smiley  A wonderful hand written letter from Craft the World about what exactly was in the package.

and then :
a beautiful dragonfly bookmark (which my picture does not do justice)

a Doose's Market shopping bag for groceries (with a pink ribbon and a blue ribbon so I can choose who's side I'm on, Luke or Lorelai's)

an AMAZINGLY painted leaf picture frame with a dragonfly on it

and a gorgeous hand made Rory doll-type-ornament-thingy (I'm not sure what it technically would be?) from "You Jump, I Jump, Jack" which is one of my absolute favorite episodes.  The doll is amazing, I didn't get a good enough picture of her either but her skirt comes up in the back like shes jumping off a building and shes even got the sash and the umbrella... SERIOUSLY amazing Craft The World.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!
7  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Re: Halloween Window Paintings on: October 02, 2008 10:04:03 PM
OH MY GOSH THIS ROCKS!!!!!  I also live in an apartment and my friends and I always decorate for the holidays!  This is a great idea!!!!  I like the dark person in the window, I feel like it that first link would match well with the Help window.
8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The I Miss Gilmore Girls Swap (Sign Ups Closed; Send Outs 09/28/08) on: September 09, 2008 09:55:51 PM
I'm here!  Although I won't be able to log in much in the next.. prolly 2 weeks.  Last night my hard drive randomly decided to stop working while I was playing iTunes.  Second time this has happened in 6 months.  Needless to say I am not happy.

Anyway, I'll try to log on as much as possible but I don't know how often that will be Sad  Maybe every few days.

Having mono sucks!  are you all red and bumpy?  my best friend caught mono right before graduation senior year of high school.  not the best prom you could have, but i guess you work with what you get Smiley

Well Al's Pancake World has the best Chinese in Stars Hallow, but I'm not sure if that's what you're asking?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: i'm not a fairy godmother, but i got the job done anyway on: September 04, 2008 09:13:13 PM
oh my god - I'm getting serious flashbacks right now.  My mom made me a Cinderella dress once upon a time ago!!!!  I also had a snow white one.  I think they were Halloween outfits?  IDK I've always been a Disney chick.  That looks amazing tho, you're such a good mom to do that for your daughter.  She's adorable : )
