Thanks so much everyone!  I really like your ideas.  I'll post when I make another one and let you know how it goes.  How funny that this kind of thing pops up in different places - I've never seen one before, but I was sure someone else would have made something similar.  But for kids, not for clubbers - that's too good! 
Topstitching, check.  Better materials, check.  I like the D ring wrap idea, too.  Hmmm, will see if I can make it card-size without too much bulk.

Hi all!  I hope you don't mind that my first post is a blatant request for your wisdom  .  I made this cloth wrist cuff to try and solve a problem: when I go out to a club, I want to dance.  I don't want to be holding on to a purse while I'm dancing, and even when I stop, I'd rather be free to move about without minding a purse.  The solution seemed to be to make something that would hold the absolute essentials: money for drinks, and the little paper tag for the coat check.  I'd like to develop the idea a little further: the clasp is a little bulky and unlovely, but I don't know what to use besides this.  I'd like to see it through and make it in other colours, maybe designed in such a way as to make it a real piece of jewellery.  Advice and ideas very much appreciated!
