1  Ragdoll dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by the-freak-parade on: July 30, 2009 01:54:09 PM
So a while back i bought this t-shirt because it was the cutest fabric. It was one of those big 80's square ones, and i knew i'd never wear it.
Finally the other day i thought of a way of using it!
So i made this dress Cheesy
I didnt use a pattern, i just winged it a bit, trial and error, and here it is!

Here's a close up one of the fabric :]

And the whole thing Cheesy

Thanks for looking :]

2  Prom dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by the-freak-parade on: June 12, 2009 08:30:01 AM
So yeh, i fell in love with this dress http://www.versatelier.com/popup_image.php?pID=1546&osCsid=hcm8lh4mlqocjcchrqr4floks4but it was over 500 in total which i thought was a bit silly. So i decided to make my own version :]
After searching high and low for a black and white tartan corset with no luck, i decided to just buy a plain black velvet one. I made the skirt and the Pink PVC bits, and there was a lovely big pink petticoat underneath. I also made a matching clutch bag. Needless to say it was the only one like it there!

Here's some pics (they're awful, i'll see if someone else has better ones!)
I have such a silly face!
I'm the one in the tartan skirt btw, just in case!  Tongue

You can see a wee bit of the petticoat in this one...

And theres me just...being me!  Grin

Thanks for looking!  Wink x

3  A little update! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by the-freak-parade on: May 24, 2009 02:47:27 PM
Sooo :]...

I decided that the best idea would be to buy a plain black corset.
( I did search high and low for a black and white tartan one but couldn't find anything similar)
But i love the corset! Its black velvet and cost 79 which i didnt mind spending since i will use it again!

And i went ahead and made the skirt - I think it turned out really well!
I'm super chuffed anyway  Cheesy
This is it over my lovely pink square-dancy petticoat off ebay.

I think it still needs to be more poofy around the top...[in progress Wink]
The corset covers the waistband but i needed to make a nice thick one since the skirt is so heavy  Tongue

Because my shoes are a darker pink, i ended up buying cerise PVC and it was a bit too dark for my liking - I bought more and it should arrive tomorrow so i'll get the details done!
And i bought a clutch bag frame last night so i can (try to) make exactly what i want!

I can't wait!!!

Oh and its modelled by my lovely friend Bryony in the woods behind the school

5  Prom Dress in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by the-freak-parade on: March 12, 2009 03:10:21 PM
So...its March, and the dreaded prom is in june.
I am pretty picky and so have fallen completely in love with this dress and couldnt bare not to have it.

Problem is, its about 500 all together.
But i need it :[

I tried contacting a corset maker twice about it but they didnt reply.
I am concidering trying the corset myself but know i would most likely mess up.
That would suck.
I don't want to have to spend more than 100 on it because well i don't really see the point.

Help!
Any suggestions?
Any craftsters that specialise in corsets? :L
I've even found the fabric!

6  My Showgirl outfit! in Costumes: Completed Projects by the-freak-parade on: December 22, 2008 05:55:19 PM
Soo...

Dress as you please day is the second last day of winter term, and we all dress up and go to a whole school ceilidh where we do our odd scottish dancing. Its fun, you should try it some time.

ANYWAY...to the costume.

Basically i bought the head-dress off ebay and made the costume to match, and i think its pretty darn good.
I was up until half one the night before sewing on tassly bits.

AND i didnt even get chosen as one of the winners although some of them had just bought their costumes. Gutted.

AND after the judging one of the teachers said i looked awesome and where did i get my costume. When she found out she sad they thought i'd bought it and thats why i didnt win, and if they'd known i probably would have.

I got really cold for nothing :[

Grrrrr.

P.s. Ignore my silly face, and my milky complection. Damn Scotland.

ANYWAY...

Enjoy :]
