Continuing adventures with the food processor: hummus edition!

Delicious. So tasty. Omnomnom.

Glanced at online recipes and winged it - based mostly off of this one though. Changes: doubled the garlic, added handful of chopped parsley, and Sriracha to taste. The thing about this recipe is that you can keep tasting it until it's perfect, adding more and more things. Next time I'm adding basil and roasted red peppers.
36  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Tin can pencil holder - easy project on: January 31, 2013 02:15:16 PM

I actually gave this to my Grandmother for Christmas, but it seems more Valentine-y to me. She needed something to corral all her pencils and things on her desk, and I went with a crafty theme. She used to do a lot of sewing, and gave me her old fabric when she stopped. I used some of it on this project because I thought she'd like a little reminder of that side of herself.

This was a very simple project, and would probably be great to do with kids! First, I measured out a square of fabric that could wrap around a clean tin can, with about a half inch to spare on the top and bottom. I drew some glue lines on the can, and wrapped the fabric around.

Then I drew a glue line around the inside lip of the can and pressed the extra fabric down. I did the same on the bottom, and then glued on a circle of cardstock with my name and the date on it so it would look finished.

I covered the seam of the fabric with some measuring tape, and continued embellishing with some vintage lace and white buttons.

That clear button on the bottom of the heart is driving me a little bit crazy! I wished I'd used a solid white. Ever give something away and then wish you could change it?

I second that Thai noodle recipe! I made it for a potluck, and it was gone by the time I filled my plate!

I made the berry crumble last night with blueberries and strawberries, and it was delicious! Next time I will make more of the topping, because the crumblies are my favorite part.
