1961  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Rainbow string of cepahlopod banners! Embroidery, appliqué, & stencils. on: November 06, 2009 01:41:36 PM

I made this for ragdoll193 in the Sea Life Swap, and I was pretty proud of it. I hope she enjoys it. She had some cepahlopods in her list of favorite creatures, and I really love them too so I ran with it.

The first banner is an appliquéd giant squid:

Next we have a stenciled vampire squid:

And an appliquéd cuttlefish (with 3D ruffle):

This embroidered nautilus is one of my favorites:

This stenciled octopus is the first panel I did:

The last flag is an embroidered dumbo octopus:

French knot suckers!

And here's how it would look hanging on a wall:

Thanks for looking!

Count me in! International Talk Like A Pirate Day is always celebrated in my group of friends. This would be most excellent.
1963  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Whimsical Circus Swap on: November 06, 2009 12:38:09 PM
I would be interested in a circus swap (LOVE cirque du soleil) - depending on my availability with school and such I would be in.
1964  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / What do you think is missing from the crafting world? on: November 04, 2009 07:57:21 PM
I'm doing a project for my business class, so I'm looking for fresh ideas and demands that aren't being met. So where do you think there's room for a new business? Mail-order Jo-Ann's? Database of local craft fairs?
Any new ideas you have to throw out there would be welcome, thanks!

1965  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 7/16/08 - New ads being shown on Craftster on: November 02, 2009 03:55:07 PM
There's an ad that's telling me about Question 1 (I'm in Maine) and is sponsored by "Stand for Marriage Maine." I'm hoping you can have it pulled because I find it distressing. I have a screenshot if you so require. Thanks!

ragdoll193 decided to send my package in two installments because one part was taking longer that anticipated. I got the first one today, and there was much rejoicing.  Grin I love it a lot and I took quite a few pictures, so some of them are clickable thumbnails. Yay!

Here's the very pretty notecard:

Cool sea-themed buttons from rotwulf:

Painted shell pieces (found at the beach), that I love:

Six sweet painted shell beads (also shown, the backside of two pendants) (I love the little narwhal!):

I don't know what I'll do with them yet, but right now they're living on the base of my lamp.

The pendants (that make me happy):

Eep! Lobster bracelet! <3

Minorly fuzzy action shot:

This is such a pretty and delicate necklace! I love it and I'm still wearing it now. The seaglass ragdoll found on a beach on Rhode Island.

Happy action shot!

And the last thing from this box is this wonderful framed watercolor by rotwulf. *admireadmire* It's on my desk now.

Thank you so much ragdoll! I can't believe there's more to come!

Repo Man! And my friends are going to be Shiloh and Mag. We are going to learn our character's songs and everything. I'm really excited!

The flat stomach ad has been really bugging me as well.

Thanks smuckers and raven!

I finished another one today - I was playing around with some black and white elements, working off an earlier weekly theme, but when I found this picture it all came together. It's from the program of All's Well That Ends Well which came to my college through the American Shakespeare Center this weekend (awesome show, by the way). The black strip of paint is extra shiny; it's fabric paint (all I had on hand).

So we haven't had a weekly theme in a little while, anyone up for one? Suggestions?
