21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / PVC Jacket on: May 19, 2008 03:03:22 AM
I've made clothes before but never from a pattern but there were some on sale so I thought I'd give it a go.... The jacket was a NewLook pattern but the picture on the packet was pretty hateful so i shortened it, brought the waist in (not enough!) and added a collar. I should have got a picture of the lining, its a deep green.

22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / recycled plastic bag bag on: May 11, 2008 01:25:09 PM
I found a tute on ETSY for fusing plastic bags together and since I had a whole load knocking round the flat (+ an iron) I decided to give it a go. Fuse enough plastic bags together and the fabric is both water-proof and nigh on indestructable, although both these bags I lined with denim from some old jeans because I find it makes it a bit more flexible.

the carrier bags I made this with were nice bright colours but lacked any interesting logo's so I made the flowers out of the handles I'd cut off

This ones a bit more obviously made of recycled bags since the store logos are all still on show, I made it for a UNICEF charity auction and it was so hard to part with! Smiley
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / glove-bra-top thing on: May 10, 2008 04:16:57 AM
I'm not sure how odd this sounds, my flatmate is laughing at me for being a wierdo as we speak, but I want to make a bra/top where the cups are gloves (so it looks like hands reaching round). I just can't decide the best way to go about it.... I could wire a pair of gloves or starch them to death but i was thinking of something a little more solid, esp if it could give some volume to the hands. Obviously not something i intend to nip to the shops in so it doesn't need to be practical really at all! I was thinking maybe setting the gloves in resin (properly shaped to fit obviously) or something like that. Has anyone ever tried something like that? Or have a any better ideas?
