11  Re: Vintage Swap: Movie Edition GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by Atellix on: June 16, 2010 03:43:52 PM
This turned out to be a really awesome swap and an even better gallery! Everything's so awesome!

I was totally spoiled by justaddcats! One of my favorite movies on my list was Casablanca, and she went all out with it! (Sorry about the quality -- my sister went and loaned my working camera to her friend because hers is broken -- so I had to use my laptop webcam). If you have better pictures justaddcats, feel free to share!

She made me a navy clutch inspired by the ones Ilsa carries in the film (in one of my favorite colors!), a Casablanca notebook for secrets and smuggling important passport documents in and out of the country, a compact mirror with the lyrics to "As Time Goes By", a beautiful handmade card, and a necklace and earring set inspired by the lamps in Rick's cafe!

Close-up of the necklace and the compact. Sorry it doesn't do it justice. Inside when you open the mirror it says "Here's lookin' at you, kid". It makes me smile every time. Smiley

Thank you so much for the wonderful swap package Kate! I love everything so much!  Grin

I have received! But because my sister went and loaned my camera to a friend without asking, I've only got webcam pictures. I got TOTALLY spoiled by RockDragon. If you have better pictures Rebecca, feel free to post them!

Some of the awesome stuff I received! An awesome tote and Doctor Who shirt (with Nine's "Trip of a Lifetime" speech on the back), pencils, geeky science bookmarks and an eraser of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

The other side of my tote bag and some MORE goodies! A water pistol ("I bloody LOVE you!") in case I come up against any pyroviles, a wooden Tardis box, a fabric quilt wall hanging with Tim's "fire and ice and rage" speech about the Doctor, a tea carrier and a book cover with Shakespeare saying "Expelliarmus!" Did I mention I've been spoiled? Smiley

Close-up of the book cover and the Tardis box.

Close-up of the Tardis box, which had banana earrings ("Always bring a banana to a party, Rose"), beautiful beads, and a key necklace! Plus, the tea carrier WITH teas, which have been labelled as "Tardis tea: Superheated Infusion of Free Radicals and Tannin". So not only did she make me a carrier for my tea, she made me little Tardis tea packets to put my tea into!

Thank you so much for everything RockDragon! You totally spoiled me! I love it all! *hugs*  Grin

Hey guys! I'm really happy to see everyone is signing up! I have a feeling this is going to be an awesome swap!

Thought you might like a few links that I came across. Everyone seems to like the snowmen comics (myself included!), so I found a link with all of them.

If you're looking for some crafting ideas, here's some of the fan art that's been made for Calvin and Hobbes.

And finally, I thought it might be neat if we all share some of our favorite strips! I've always been a fan of this one:

LOL, because we all know that's how Bill Watterson actually wrote the strips, right? Wink

Oh man, did I ever get the greatest swap package EVER from Mableheartscharlie. You'll all be super jealous.  Grin

First of all, the package had all kinds of great quotes on it. I was totally geeking out. Then I opened my totally awesome package and freaked out!

Oh man, the coolest thing about the package was that every item was wrapped with one of my favorite quotes attached. I've got an awesome "Big Damn Hero" shirt, the most beautiful jewellery box ever with the lyrics to the theme song (my favourite lyrics EVER), two beautiful shawls, a gorgeous little sculpted figurine duplicated from my Wist, an awesome bookmark with the "special hell" quote from Shepherd Book, a beautiful stone keychain, and sponge dinosaurs. I've never geeked out so much in my life.

So many pretties! Thank you SOOOOO much Mableheartscharlie! This is one of the best swap packages I have ever received.

16  Re: Murder and Mayhem Swap Gallery (1/20/2010 Sent 03/10/2010) in The Swap Gallery by Atellix on: March 16, 2010 07:43:14 PM
I got my package today from mpemporium! After a bit of a panic with a missing mail box key, I received my package! After the bomb squad checked it thoroughly, I was given the green light to open it. And it was full of awesome. Awesome and police evidence that had been checked in.

The evidence. Everything has been thoroughly (and brilliantly) tagged! The tags are so awesome! I thought they were authentic!

I'm a huge Midsomer Murders and Foyle's War fan, so the evidence was passed on from their head detectives, DCI Barnaby and DCI Foyle.
-- Translated, means that I got one of the books that features DCI Barnaby (the series inspired Midsomer Murders) and DCI Foyle's warrant card! I'm so excited to read the book! And the warrant card is so detailed! I'm tempted to start carrying it in my purse and flash it at people who question my authority.

DCI Foyle's notebook! Now I can make notes on suspicious activity in my small town without missing a single detail! (Also as a writer it'll be in my bag to help me write down ideas as they come to me!)

Speaking of bag, I now have one! I am a HUGE fan of the show Psych (not, you know, OBSESSED, but it's definitely one of the things that always cheers me up/I always watch). So I got a Psych bag! It's based on a gag from the picture below. The main character is this playful, unscrupulous kind of guy, and the chalk outline is his kind of humour (notice: he's the one holding the chalk). I freakin' love it. It's got such awesome colors.

The confiscated evidence, clearly raided from a number of different evidence lockers. Thanks again so much for everything mpemporium! I love it all so much!

P.S. Where did you get the AWESOME police evidence tags?!? Did you make them?

17  Calvin and Hobbes swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by Atellix on: March 16, 2010 08:52:20 AM

Hey guys! Forgive me if this has been pitched before. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a Calvin and Hobbes swap? I feel like there's a lot of appreciative fans around here!

Anybody?

Good news everyone! I've just received a package! It was dropped off by a robot who apparently wants to kill all humans and ended up stealing all of my beer. In any case, I was BEYOND excited with my package! Which was perfect because I've been down from a death and a funeral that happened this past weekend/week.

Seriously, prepare to be jealous. Wink

My package! I wonder what's all inside? Hmmm...

A Zapp Brannigan's Guide to Love. Which is actually a hollow book! And had an awesome light plate and alien coin purse inside! Now I can start saving quarters for my alien trip!

The inside of the book. The thing is actually hard cardboard, which makes the whole thing even more impressive! Plus that Zapp quote always makes me laugh. He never fails to make me laugh and roll my eyes simultaneously. Maybe because he reminds me so much of all my guy friends from high school.

A Fry and Leela photo frame! I love these two, so having them on a picture frame is just for the win.

I've already got this door hanger on my door. It's actually perfect, because I live in a house with five other girls, nobody ever knows when someone else is having a nap (which I tend to do quite frequently). So this is awesome because nobody will ever wake me from a nap again!

And the piece de resistance! I've always wanted a Planet Express shirt (and it was on my wists), and now I have one! Huzzah! I squealed when I opened this. And it's so comfy!

THANK YOU SO MUCH SHDWSTRM! I LOVE EVERYTHING! And thanks for being so understanding about my dilemma. I'll be sure to get your package in the mail soon!

19  Re: Anime/Manga Swap Round 5 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Atellix on: March 08, 2010 10:25:53 AM
Okay, my sincerest apologies to devilxkat for the delay in posting this! I had taken the pictures with my best friend's camera, and then her grandmother died, so I've been spending the weekend helping the family out. I finally stole her camera and uploaded the pictures myself.

I have to tell you just HOW AWESOME my package was. It's like she knew exactly what I needed or would love, and made it for me.

My package. I wonder what's inside?!?

Answer? AWESOMENESS.
- First off, she made me a scarf. It's her first knitted project, so I'm super proud of her. It's Kingdom Hearts inspired, and even has the heart from the logo done in blue. It's cold where I live, so I've enjoyed using it!
- Glass coasters of some of my favourite animes. I love Elfen Lied, Gunslinger Girl and Avatar, so she painted glass coasters from each of those. Close up below.
- STAINED GLASS! They're all characters from Miyazaki films. I've got them on little hooks on my window, except the smaller soot sprites. They're on a necklace. Smiley Close-up below.
- Two little extra charms. I've got them on keychains with my keys. ^_^

The only space I have to eat in my small room is at my desk, but I never have anything to put my food down on. Now I do! They're absolutely awesome. The eye one is Lucy from Elfen Lied, the girl is Henrietta's shadow from Gunslinger Girl, and the other two are from Avatar: Zuko, Prince of the Fire Nation and the four kindgoms of the Avatar-verse (Earth, Air, Fire, Water).

These are so beautiful. I've always wanted to learn how to do stained glass, and this has just furthered my desire. They are the fire demon Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle, a kodama (tree spirit) from Princess Mononoke, and the soot sprites from Spirited Away. I love them all so much!

Thanks so much devilxkat for such an awesome swap! I'd love to partner with you again.  Cheesy

I just have to say how AWESOME this shirt is. I loved Dr. Facilier from "The Princess and the Frog", so she made me a shirt inspired by his final scene in the movie. I can't tell you how much detail is actually in this shirt. There are symbols and things flying around everywhere in the scene, and she somehow managed to get them down and onto the shirt. AND it glows in the dark! How awesome is that?

The front of the shirt.

The back of the shirt.

Close-up of the back.

She also sent me three little voodoo dolls from the final scene made out of pipe cleaners, but I forgot to take a picture. They're adorable!

Thanks so much lady for the awesome swap! I had a blast!
