this recipe has been around the internets (and whatever we did before the internets) for at least fifteen years, but i can tell you the recipe is TO DIE FOR and well worth the time.

that is fantastic, such a simple solution. You may have saved half my wardrobe. If only you could tell me how to get out all the grease and paint stains, I'd be all set!

So this is my first post here - I'm not typically all that crafty, more into painting and illustration, but i wish desperately sometimes that i could sew, or produce something more useful than pictures. Sometimes the crafty hits me though - these are some collages I made on wood panels using these old images i found in a book of non-copy-righted pictures. hope someone finds the time to take a look - and if you do, hope you like them!

I make veggie chili all the time, am always adjusting and re-working to suit whatever i have in my house. Basically I just take one or two cans of beans (usually a can of black beans and a can of Any's mixed chilli beans) and whatever veggies - grated carrots, tomatoes zucchini, corn, peas, whatever, really, that i have around, plus maybe a little bit of tomato paste for testure. I just saute everything really slowly, or i stick everything in the crockpot for an hour or two with chilli powder and whatever spices. It's always a big hit and a great way to use veggies up before they go bad if i have too many.

I hear you! I am also not a naturally talented cook, but had to learn - i went vegetarian in high school and my parents pretty much left my meals to me - i got this cookbook and i really believe it made me the much more talented cook i am today. I eat (some) meat now, but this has a great guide on how to shop for foods and the recipes are very simple and easy to follow, and cooking veggies is easier than meat so this is a good way to start. I've also found myself adding meat to some of the recipes to satisfy the carnivores. You can tell, i get really excited about this book and am always recommending it. (it also has a great chapter on mixing drinks!)
