1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / A Black Apple Doll on: June 29, 2008 09:36:14 PM
This is my forth attempt at this pattern. I love Inside a Black Apple (www.theblackapple.t ypepad.com) and saw this tutorial on the Martha Stewart website a while back - http://www.marthastewart.com/article/black-apple-doll?lnc=38f9cf380e1dd010VgnVCM1000005b09a00aRCRD&rsc=showmain_tv_the-martha-stewart-show

This doll was for a new baby girl and I hope she likes one of her very first dolls. I've gotten better at this, but have by no means mastered it. The legs are very crooked and the hair always seems to get sewn inside the head. I keep making changes and hopefully someday I'll get it right. It does seem like a pretty easy doll pattern.

Here she is with a belt I made her:

Here she is with a "scarf" ribbon around her neck. This is how I gave her away.

Also, you can't tell but I embroidered a few of the flowers on her dress for an extra touch.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Striped Tote (1st Tote Bag!) on: June 21, 2008 09:33:42 PM
I made this tote bag today. I'm planning to give it to my mother-in-law for her b-day on July 4. I think she's gonna like it, right?

I plan to make either a keychain to go with it or some earrings.

This is my first tote bag and I can't wait to make one for myself now!! I am excited about how it turned out. So easy too!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Flower Purse on: June 04, 2008 10:36:02 PM
I took my first sewing class a few months ago and we made this bag. It is the instructor's pattern/design. The bag below is my first attempt to make it on my own. I am so surprised that I didn't have any problems. Everything just came together and it turned out so cute. It will be a birthday gift for my sister-in-law. I can't wait to give it to her!  Grin

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My two teeth monsters! on: June 02, 2008 09:23:55 PM
Okay, these monsters look like teeth. They are soft fleece monsters that double as little pillows.

I made my own version of one of the Ugly Dolls my 2 year-old son wanted and he became the black monster below. I thought he looked like a big black tooth when I was done!

Then I made the ivory one with arms and made her very girly. She will be a 4 year-old girl's birthday present. She looks like a regular tooth. Oh well, I like them both.

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cute Black Bird on: May 19, 2008 08:29:30 PM
He's so cute and cuddly. I saw this guy online - http://www.moo.com/designs/designers/MOO_Designs/picture_20/ - and had to make my own soft version of him.

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Girl & Boy Dolls on: May 18, 2008 10:25:12 AM
A friend asked me to make her a boy and girl set of dolls. She wanted them to have "flaws" since she would be using them as props in a married couples class. She plans to point out the flaws and say they love each other anyway. Well I knew they would have plenty of flaws without me even trying and I was right! This was the third time I have attempted this pattern. I love Inside a Black Apple (www.theblackapple.t ypepad.com) and saw this tutorial on the Martha Stewart website.

I am so new to sewing that even though this is so simple, I can't seem to get it right each time. I'm going to keep trying though. And my friend does love the dolls I made her!

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Monster B-day Present on: May 18, 2008 10:16:00 AM
Here is a monster I made for a 3-year-old. He's made out of olive green fleece and is so cuddly. I wish I would've made him bigger!

Green Monster

Full gift - A card I made, They Might Be Giants kids CD/DVD, and a cute monster

8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My first animal! on: May 13, 2008 08:21:01 PM
Okay, I'm new to sewing and am trying to make things as quickly as possible - I'm so excited. I've made a monster, two stars and two dolls, but this is my first animal - a dog. I made it for my mom for Mother's Day. It kinda looks like one of her dogs (not on purpose) and she really liked him.

The pattern is from this book - http://www.amazon.com/Softies-Simple-Instructions-Plush-Pals/dp/0811856526/ref=pd_sim_b_img_5 (Plushies). He's made out of felt and I hand stitched him. Fast and easy!
