1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Notebook Bag on: April 30, 2009 06:06:47 PM
OK, like many of you, I was struggling to find a suitable bag for my notebook, but all I could find were bags for laptops and they were all too big.  So I sat down and designed my own...  just measured my notebook, added a few more inches, and voila!  Here's what I did:

The outside fabric is corduroy, the inside fabric is flannel, and for interfacing I used those heavy battings used for baby cribs...  yes, I guess I'm kinda freak about not scratching it...LOL!  As you can see, I added an outside pocket (which can hold papers, etc.) and two inside pockets to hold the mouse, electric cord, and probably my MP3 player Wink

Everything fits perfectly...  so you shouldn't be surprised on how proud I'm of it!  Wink Grin  So what do you think?

Thanks for looking!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / "Peace" Bag on: March 06, 2009 05:58:17 AM
Since I got "hooked" with my previous 80's bag, I decided to make some other with an idea I had in mind...  and here's what I did:

And another one:

I used felt for the "Peace" symbol (which I designed on my computer), hand embroidered the "Peace" word (also computer designed), and added some beads and jewelry stuff to add some "sparkle"  Wink  The outside fabric is denim and the inside fabric is pink cotton.  TFL!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Little Girl Tote Bag on: March 06, 2009 05:47:58 AM
Here's something I've been working on recently.  It's a regular tote bag and I cut out the felt flowers and birdie (designed them on my computer) and then hand embroidered the butterfly, flower stems and leafs...  it was so much fun to do!  Cheesy  For the outside I used pink cotton fabric and for the inside, dark pink gingham fabric.  I also used fusible for interfacing and for the handles Wink

And inside view:

I added a ric rac to the inside pocket for decoration.

And here's a small pouch I did with the remaining fabric:

This is how it looks when opened:

TFL!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 80's Bag on: February 15, 2009 07:44:14 PM
OK, here's a bag I did for my niece.  She wanted something very groovy...  80's theme...  completely different.  So I used a tutorial I found in one of Craftster's threads (I'll post the link as soon as I find it  Wink  and embellished the bag with felt, foamies, ribbon, and rhynestones.  I looked all over the internet and couldn't find something similar to this, so I am not sure if it really looks that groovy or 80's theme.  What do you think?

I used black denim for the outside and satin (is that how it is said?) for the inside.  Loved the way it looks inside...  really soft at the touch Wink

I would really appreciate your feedback Wink

Thanks!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Girly Bags on: December 19, 2008 05:41:09 PM
Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share some new bags I did for my nieces...  these will be their Christmas present.  I just hope they like them  Roll Eyes.  For the fabric I used cotton/polyester, the flowers and birdie are made out of felt and adhered them to the bag using the applique stitch from my sewing machine.  Here's how they look:

I also added some decor using a leaf stitch that my sewing machine has.  Here's the second one:

And here's how they look on the inside:

That stitched rectangle is a magnet that I stitched to the lining...  ok, I made a small pocket first, put the magnet inside, and then stitched the pocket to the wrong side of the lining...  I had to do this since I ran out of magnetic snaps  Undecided  And guess what?  They work perfectly!  Shocked Grin

And finally, some matching make-up/girly stuff purses:

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Polka Dots Bag Set on: September 19, 2008 08:54:38 AM
Now for my last project...
Loved this color combination.  The tote bag was also my own design.  This is a medium to small sized bag.  I added a magnetic snap and crystal beads as decoration.  The checkbook cover looks pretty neat in person...  instead of stitching the borders with right sides together and then flipping to the correct side, I did a binding all around the border, like in quilting.  This was my first time doing a checkbook cover this way and I totally loved the results.  Thanks for looking!

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Quilted Tote Bag on: September 19, 2008 08:49:17 AM
This one was kinda challenging, since I did not use any pattern.  Just cut the squares (these were fat quarters I bought at a local quilting store) and followed the same procedure as in quilting.  I also did the same thing for the back of the bag.  The cream fabric is a medium to heavy fabric (kinda looks like canvas), which I liked a lot.  Aaannd added crystal beads to one of the straps for decoration purposes.

What do you think?
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / B&W Bag Set on: September 19, 2008 08:45:31 AM
OK, I think I started backwards...LOL Grin
Here's a tote bag I did recently...  my own design...  it has two large front pockets and there is also another small pocket on the inside of the bag.  It has a long strap from one side to the other, the lining is plain black, and I added a magnetic snap.  Also, I added an acrylic heart to decorate and, of course, did a matching makeup purse.

Thanks for looking!

Love*Love this fabric!!  And it was my first time making flowery edges with my sewing machine.  Anyway, thanks for looking!

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A Small Wallet on: August 22, 2008 12:08:41 PM
OK, since I was in this "wallet creation mood"  Wink, I went ahead and made this small wallet:

And here's the inside:

It has five card slots and a zippered coin holder...  this was my first time making a zippered coin holder...  kinda tricky to make, but I guess that practice makes perfection  Wink
