1  UNITED STATES / South Carolina / Re: Rock Hill, SC--fabric shopping recommendations on: July 17, 2005 04:21:21 PM
Hi Gourdolina,
Thanks for the tip. We don't have Hancock's where I live, so that will be a treat for me!
Happy sewing,

2  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / Fabric Stores in Charlotte? on: July 16, 2005 06:04:55 AM
Hello,
I'm visiting Charlotte for work (i'll be flying into Charlotte, and driving back and forth between there and Rock Hill, SC). I've never been there before and am looking for good (even great!) fabric stores between these two locations or anywhere withing a 30 minute drive even. (Hey, what's "work" without play?)

Any thoughts or recommendations? I've heard great things about Mary Jo's. How far is that from Charlotte? (I live in central Virginia and a one-hour drive to Hancock Fabrics is a treat, so I'm pretty easy to please, I guess. . .)

Thanks,
lisaquilts

3  UNITED STATES / South Carolina / Rock Hill, SC--fabric shopping recommendations on: July 16, 2005 05:49:46 AM
Hello,
I'm visiting Rock Hill, SC for the first time and am looking for fabric stores. I'll have a rental car, so I can get from Rock Hill up to Charlotte, NC pretty easily. Do any South Carolinian craftsters know of great places to buy fabric??
Thanks,
lisaquilts

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Machine rental in Dallas/Bedford TX (short term) on: May 04, 2005 06:55:59 AM
Hello Craftsters,
Please forgive the dual posting, but I'm need need of broad advice on a pretty narrow topic. I'm visiting my sister in Dallas, TX from Virginia. I've promised to do some sewing for her, but do *not* wish to transport my beloved sewing machine on the plane (travelling with children, I have enough to worry about).
What might be my options for renting/borrowing a machine from a shop in the Dallas/Bedford area? I'm happy to pay a sizeable (yet refundable) deposit to insure against theft or damage. I'd like to have a Viking, since that's what i use now, but any basic/average machine (a bottom line Pfaff would be great also) would do. I'm only there for a few days.
Any thoughts? Do any of you Texas residents know of a good, generous sewing machine dealer willing to do such a thing? Any of you, perhaps, have an extra machine to share?
Thanks for considering this,
lisaquilts

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Red Sox Font or Typeface? on: May 03, 2005 10:15:29 AM
Hello,
I'm looking for a website with a downloadable or copy-able version of the Boston Red Sox typeface. I know that a few Craftsters have made such crafts, but where do you get the type? My plan is to make one of those monogrammed purses (the kind with one big letter on it, they've been popular recently).
Thanks,
lisaquilts
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Hot Pink Purse Swap--the pictures on: April 26, 2005 11:04:26 AM
Wow!

That is one great hot pink purse.  I really like the details, especially the black piping.

Fury_inc, did you make that up or is there a pattern? Would you be willing to share information about it in either case?

After all the grief you went through princess_me, I'm glad you got such a nice bag.

All the best,
lisaquilts
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / "Design to Fit" program: bargain or scam? on: March 31, 2005 07:50:42 AM
Hello,
I'm writing to see if anyone has had experience with the Design to Fit pattern and fitting program. The website is http://www.designtofit.com/. I'm interested because Hancocks Fabrics is hosting classes for only $5. It is a one-time, 2.5 hour class at the store. You're supposed get 6 patterns, a DVD, and something else for your $5 class fee. Has anyone done this class? Is it too good to be true? Or are they trying to unload other products?
Thanks,
lisaquilts

Yippee Tina_pickles!
I'm glad the bag arrived and gets to travel down Newbury Street. I miss it. Even though I was a super-poor undergrad when I lived in Boston. At least my bag gets a nice outing to a glizty yet tasteful shopping district even if I don't.
Take care,
lisaquilts
