So I have been a bad swapper. I received four lovely atcs since I last posted, but due to the hurricane of life, I haven't gotten a chance to post them and I am SO sorry! Between a dear friend from Germany coming for a week-long a visit, the kitty getting a nasty flea and worms outbreak, our air conditioner breaking, my car breaking, suffering from nasty (and stupid) sunburns on my belly (never fall asleep on the beach when its cloudy) and planning my solo excursion to Poland and Lithuania, there seems to be little time for anything else. Enough with the excuses you say, lets see 'em! So here they are in all their glory!
From SonjaBoo. Cute Russian Nesting Dolls. I love it! They look so sweet with their eyes closed!
From Audio Astrophysics. Doctor Who and Radiohead inspired. I think we could be good friends audio! Awesome. Not much in life is better than Radiohead and the Doctor!
And the Cheshire beauty that Velvetdragon so graciously posted for me. Truly a work of art.
So in the grand move from the college dorms to our apartment, my boyfriend's favorite Radiohead posters got mauled. They were wrinkled and torn and had giant sticky spots all over them because someone thought the best way to hang a poster was with duct tape. *sighs, shakes head*
Needless to say the boy was very sad and asked me to fix them and said if I couldn't, he would just throw them away. So of course, I "fixed" them. I took three Radiohead posters, printed Radiohead lyrics, a black pen, chocolate scented stamp pad, construction paper, brass letters, a glue stick, recycled cardboard and an old poster frame whose plastic fell out and broke long ago and came up with this:
From these posters:
The boy is happy, and I think I am too! It is the perfect balance of crafty and Radiohead love! Enjoy.
I received from photochickkds and I love the whimsies she sent! She sent me a perfect jar; a water bottle, definitely necessary here in southern California! I was too excited to get a pic with everything inside of the 'jar', but it all fit perfectly inside. I have no idea how, but it did!
Group shot of all my goodies! Fuzzy yarn, cotton thread, pony beads, holographic pooh stickers, bottlecaps, perler beads, various beads, love patch, stickers, crayon magnetic list pad, calculator, stickers, peace sign pendant, glass gems, shells, various novelty buttons, mini blocks, wood tile letters, wooden shapes, mint smelling hi-lighter.
handmade caprisun/koolaid pouch. Awesome!
pretty scrabble tile necklaces, a bottlecap necklace, shrinky dink heart (it has a lobster claw, so I was going to use it as a crochet stitch marker) and red flower earrings
Awesome resin ring. I was totally unable to capture the range of colors in this. There are blue and burgundy metallic flecks throughout. I love it!
Close-up of my favorite whimsies! I have been searching for the perfect fork to make a pendant out of forever! The pendant blanks are really neat and are definitely motivation to break out my resin supplies. The cocktail stamps are awesome and now I need to plan a party...perhaps back to school martini party?! I love the heart key pin, it is perfect for this mixed media altered family tree idea I have had rolling around in my brain. And I love the candy corn and trumpet buttons...they are adorable! Everything is awesome! Thanks so much photochickkds!
I received an amazingly huge and wonderful package from princessblueberry today! She claimed me for some paper crafting goodies and general supplies. Prepare to be very jealous!!!
First up we have some lovely silk wool blend yarn, colorful mohair and some roving and fun pieces to spice up my spinning! (I am a newbie, so it is fun to have some new stuff!)
She also sent me a variety of loose leaf teas! They are hard for me to find where I live for some reason, and I am a BIG tea connoisseur. They smell so good, I had difficulty keeping my kitty away from them!
All kinds of paper goodies!!! (Please excuse the kitty, he is a camera hog) American Heritage engraving postcards, box of bottle caps, foreign dictionary pages, little dominoes, a ton of little letter charms, ATC sleeves and bases, and general fun ephemera.
Oh wait...there is MORE!!! Tons of paper goodies! A ton of 12x12 scrapbook paper, cardstock (I always run out of it!) pretty origami squares, old map, pages from a spanish atlas(?), 2 packages of pretty mulberry paper, misc paper tags, and little some torn apart board books to alter (*such* a good idea! I totally never thought about it, I can't wait to make one!) and a cool old kid's book to alter called 'To walk on two feet'!
I was totally spoiled!!! Thank you so much princessblueberry!!! I love everything, and I can't wait to start using my awesome new supplies!
Much apologies to my lovely team chained-dog-on-a-stake! It has taken me way too long to post these pics. What with finals and Passover, life has been busy. In any event, here are the long overdue shots of my lovely additions to the neighborhood!
First up from Lmcbride:
with monster kitty for size:
I love the colors in this house! It is so cheery and happy! And the dimension is crazy cool~ The windows all pop out and the detail on the roof is amazing! And of course I love the poppy on the back! My Hebrew name is Kalanit which is the name of the red hebrew poppy, so I am a bit poppy crazed and I love that she included it!
And next up is my house in full bloom from Phizzychick!
I love how whimsical it is. It reminds me of a way cooler version of Alice in Wonderland, when Alice is serenaded by the flowers. I love it. So colorful. She also sent along some awesome old bingo cards (which I have already used in an altered ancestors project for my mum for Mother's Day) and a crazy cool bat postcard. I was obsessed at one point with vampire bats, when I was like 6, so it definitely brought me back to a younger age!
Thank you both for my colorful, pretty little houses! They are truly wonderful little pieces of art!
So my pretty red leather laptop cover has seen better days. My darling kitten has destroyed it because it apparently feels really good under his claws. I love my mac, but I hate that it is white, it just gets so dirty, so not having a cover wasn't an option. So I did what any crafter would do, instead of pitching it and buying a new one, I made it fabulous, one of a kind and very me! I inherited quite a bit of vintage buttons from my grandmother and then also received a large amount in a supply swap so there was a real mixture of what buttons I used. I wanted to use red to accent the original color of the cover, but I felt it needed a pop, so I added some aqua and white. I was worried about it looking overly patriotic, but I think I created the retro look I was going for. Hope you like it!
The finished product:
close-up of my favorite section
and of course, the nasty befores. All of the white marks you see are where the leather has been scratched off by kitty
