11  Re: Rabbit tent! in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: September 01, 2008 03:36:26 PM
That is sooo cute! Your bunny is too! What's his name?

His name is Panda, but I mostly call him Pan or BunBun.

That is really cool.
What kind of a bunny cage do you have? I have never seen a second floor in a large cage before. I rescued an English Loop Rabbit (That is what the woman i talked to at the House Rabbit Society thought he was from my description over the phoneFrom a bicycle path that was a big grass strip with a few houses and bushes around it. Anyway, I was told to buy him a cage with a flat tray for the floor because the wire cage is very bad for their feet. I bought him a medium size dog cage. We finally gave him a small round thing with a hole in it that is carpeted ( I don't know what they are called) They are for cats. the inside is apparently cardboard . My rabbit eats everything wont your rabbit eat his tent? Mine would. I don't think i would be able to give him something like that.

I built the the cage from Neat Idea Storage Cubes, they're originally meant to be put together into stacking cubes for storage, but can easily be made into a rabbit cage to your liking. You get a lot more space for a lot less money. The flooring is a wooden platform to raise up the cage a little, with a foam 'sub-flooring', linoleum covering, and then mats on top of that because he's picky and can't walk on linoleum  Cheesy :

You can see some other examples here: http://princessblackie.homestead.com/ , http://www.michiganrabbitrescue.org/condo.htm

I have one of those small round things too, the carpeted hideaways for cats? My bunny uses it as a step to get from the floor to his cage. Wire flooring gives bunnies sore hocks (the fur on their feet wears away leaving them red and inflamed) so that's why wire's a bad idea. Large dog crates are also great rabbit homes, I've seen those used a lot too. They're cheaper and more spacious than buying cages.

My bunny's not a chewer or a digger, so I lucked out in not getting a Destructo-Bun. He has toys that keep him occupied (plastic key ring, hard plastic jingling toys, cardboard toilet paper roll) and he gets outside cage time. So I'm not worried about him eating it. Wires, that's another story. My entire house has been bunny-proofed against him getting his little teeth into those. Otherwise, he's been great with not eating everything in sight.  Grin

You could give him a little house made out of a plain cardboard box. He might chew it up but that's okay, they're replaceable. Bunnies like to rip apart things sometimes, cardboard's a safe option for them to go to town.

12  Rabbit tent! in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: September 01, 2008 02:30:52 PM
Rabbits hide under everythingRoll Eyes
So I made my bunny a little tent/house so he can start to use the shelf on the second floor of his cage. It's just a cube with no 'floor' or bottom panel, with an entryway cut out of one side. But voila, a bunny hiding place. I tied it to the top of his cage with shoelaces, which I still need to trim.

cautiously investigating...

Closer....

Is yellow really my color?

Knowing him he'll look at it for a week and then start to use it  Grin

I really want to go as an FLDS Compound Wife:

I'm just not sure if it's still relevant or recognizable (and it's kind've offensive, but for the rest of the year I promise I'm not as mean Cheesy).

14  REM's Michael Stipe in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: August 24, 2008 04:33:33 PM
Made for a co-worker, he has a tiny crush (...understatement) on the singer and asked for one, from the gray-shirt-with-a-star-on-it era of REM:

Pro: He's bald, which means I don't have to make hair!
Con: He has stubble.

The star and his shoes are felt and his pants are stretchy black fabric. I tried to make the textures different so it doesn't look like he's wearing footy pajamas on the bottom. Although that would be cute.
sunglasses are shrinky dink plastic.
stubble is pencil shavings rubbed on lightly with a paint brush.

It never fails, the left eye always looks off. Have since fixed it, although it never looked as bad as it does in this photo.  Undecided

Michael and Beth Ditto like to party

oh god that eye  Angry

I love all the stuff so far! Everyone's done such a great job!
_

But woah, you guys, did I ever get spoiled. Seriously, Hedgewitch, this stuff is all so amazing, you've definitely gone above and beyond your first swap!! I love everything! I'm so sorry for the crazy amount of pictures and exclamation marks I am about to bombard you all with.

A picture of everything together - I would have gotten a pic of the box arriving, but I couldn't wait and ripped it open.  Cheesy  She warned me that she'd gone beyond the recommended number of items - she wasn't kidding, either:

The bundle of paper is a bunch of recipes that all involve cooking with earl grey tea, my most favorite of teas! And bundled together by a piece of paper with a drawing of my rabbit!! Trust me this looks JUST like him!

An iPod cozy - with a bee, symbolic of my love for Eddie Izzard and his famous "Covered in beeeees!" quote, and a phone cozy WITH MY RABBIT ON IT. The detail on this is so amazing:

A zombie doll - holding brains!! (he's so cute) and nag champa incense:

A blank book and personalized recipe cards! Until now I've scribbled recipes all over scraps of paper but NO LONGER!

A needle book with leaves - and pins inside!

A tea wallet! And a little ceramic rabbit!

And I think these might be my favorite. A pair of teacup earrings and teabag earrings! They're so freaking awesome.

Or maybe this is my favorite! A red and black scarf! I have modeled it in ninja style so you can see the color (the other pics weren't showing it off well enough  Grin )

And there's a bag of tea and a gigantic chocolate bar I forgot to get a picture of. Mmmm. Chocolate.

Hedgewitch was such a great swap partner, I can only hope I measure up! You're definitely going on to rule the swap world!  Kiss

I keep getting sidetracked by the Olympics. Canada hasn't won any medals - even Uzbekistan is kicking our butts.  Undecided
yeah and that damned Michael Phelps has seven medals. That's seven more medals than we have.
We have three as of this morning!
And don't you know Michael dived for your swims?

18  Sufjan Stevens doll (Come on! Feel the Illinoise!) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: June 26, 2008 06:25:12 AM
I made this a while ago, I just forgot to post him. A going-away gift for a friend, musician Sufjan Stevens from his Illinoise! album.

Sufjan:

& Sufjan:

The left eye looks consistently off, but looking at the actual doll it looks fine. I can't figure it out. Maybe his head was at an angle?

Removable pom-poms!
I made them by sewing strips of fabric to a rectangle of felt. Then I just rolled it up and glued it together, added a little loop for his hands, and there you go. Glue works too but it bulks up the fabric quite a bit, resulting in GIGANTIC POM-POMS. Shocked

Gooooo Decatur!
It's either now or later.

wooooo.....

Hoo!!

I had to try this.
And for the introduction...

Who is this?

Does he live up to my majesty? No?

SHUN.

I had no idea what to do for the eyes, so I just sewed little circle....y things.

Cute pattern, thanks for posting!

20  Torchwood dolls (Jack & Ianto - with a surprise!) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: June 17, 2008 05:03:30 PM
Captain Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones from Torchwood. I made these little dolls for a friend, but they do something speeeecial. It also explains why they have no noses. Check it out:

My camera's batteries are crapping out, BUT here they are.
Ianto needs a bit more of a hair trim. My bad. The hair is made from pieces of old teddy bears.

Yee haw, ride that pony!

Jack likes to peruse his own fansites.

Ianto is amused.

Okay, so the reason their faces have 'circles' in the front is because when you put them close to each other...

The circles are actually little magnets, which pull together and THEY KISS! ANIMAL MAGNETISM, BABY!  Kiss

The noses prevented them from 'clicking' together so ... off with their noses. Next time, stronger magnets.

...was it good for you?
Also, Ianto is in pinstripes, which shows up a little better here.

ANYWAY, enough of my ridiculousness. Although I do giggle a little every time their heads click together.  I can't help it.  Grin
