1  Where the Wild Things Are journal cover in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by MollyMillions on: December 10, 2008 07:16:27 PM
I got the idea to paint a journal for a friend's gift, realizing quite late it's been probably 8 years since I've painted anything aside from a house. Yet I don't listen to myself, and copied a picture from Where The Wild Things Are (a children's book by Maurice Sendak) onto a journal.

The picture I worked from:

I used acrylics (mostly because it's the only paint I had on hand, though it peels like a b...bad thing). Also sealed over n' over n' over with extra-thick spray:

This guy was always my favorite.

I can see the errors/in-need-of-fixing issues (the eyes, the EYES!), but not too bad for a spur-of-the-moment thing.

I hope she likes it ;>.>

2  Archie comics clock in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by MollyMillions on: December 06, 2008 03:42:51 PM
Made for a Christmas present. I bought a cheap clock with a wide enough border and covered it in Archie characters. Re-reading the comics, I kept wondering why I liked these so much whereas now they drive me crazy. Poor Archie gets so embarrassed when Betty pays for their dates! Pfft.  Cheesy

Well, my friend loves them, so I'm hoping she likes this.

in-progress...

And Betty, joyfully skipping around on the second hand (she was always my favorite):

Advice: Make sure the clock works before you buy it. Otherwise you will be horribly angry and have to buy a clock mechanism from Michael's. Raarg.  Angry

3  Big Uterus Pillow. in Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: November 29, 2008 07:04:46 AM
I made this for a performance piece I did as a final exam in my Gender & Theater class. I'm not sure what to do with it now (what does one do with a big stuffed uterus?), but it makes a nice pillow.

posable ovaries!

4  Re: Fall Scarf Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by MollyMillions on: November 08, 2008 04:50:31 AM

honorablemention sent me this beautiful black scarf, I hope the pattern is clear here because it looks amazing. She got skillz:

With a cute Hallowe'en-y pouch & a tube of Burt's Bees beeswax lip balm!

All of my action shots are a black scarf on a black shirt...nice going, self. I fiddled with the contrast so the pattern was more visible. I'm not usually such a vibrant yellow.  Roll Eyes

Thank you honorablemention! I absolutely love it.

5  Re: Look out! It's BUNZILLA! in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: October 11, 2008 07:22:28 AM
Heheh. Thanks for the feedback everyone. He earned a piece of banana or two for putting up with it. Secretly I think he likes it.

this made me giggle soooooooo much!  do i dare ask for a aproximate pattern so i can torture my own rabbit?  (mine is more forgiving, lucky me.  i put things on his head when he sleeps on the top floor of his cage)

I can show you what I did, it's super-easy to draw up.

I measured my bunny from nose to tail and drew this pattern in the same measurement. It's the hood/cap and the back part:

(cut out 2 pieces, right sides facing)

Then I used that pattern to draw a row of spikes:

Cut spikes out, sew together, flip inside out (so they're right side out). You can stuff them for more stability.

Then I sandwiched the spikes between the first two pieces in picture one. The yellow line is to indicate the direction they should be facing, but they should be in the middle of the other two pieces. Sew along the top (red) line.

Place on irritated rabbit to figure out ear hole placement:

Then I measured between the top of the existing piece to the underside of the bunny and cut out the blue shape in the right length. Attach both pieces to the existing costume sides (inside out), and sew!

You can velcro it together on the underside if you want. I used a piece of elastic cord so it'll give him some room so he doesn't feel like he's being wrapped tightly.

I hope that made sense!  Lips sealed

6  Look out! It's BUNZILLA! in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by MollyMillions on: October 10, 2008 08:29:53 AM
Hallowe'en is coming, which is the only saving grace to me dressing up my rabbit. But to be fair, he's chewed up enough of my stuff that he's had it coming.

Bunasaurus!
Please note the look of utter disapproval.

woops blurry.

And this is where he hid after escaping.

7  Re: Halloween costume ideas for 2008 in Halloween Costumes by MollyMillions on: September 29, 2008 08:25:13 PM
This slipped my mind until now, but one of the best couple/group costumes ever are the Yip-Yip aliens from Sesame Street. They're always a big hit:

 As seen on YouTube..

It'd be totally easy, too - just a furry sheet of material with a mouth sewn in and some eyes on top. Ah, nostalgia.

I keep changing my mind!

Now I'm entertaining the idea of dressing up as a suffragette:

Maybe only funny to me because I'm a Women's Studies major.  Cheesy  But I think it'd be cute. I so rarely get to wear a practical sash.
