1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Plastic garden netting? on: May 12, 2010 05:57:01 PM
the first thing that popped into my head was: send it to me!!!   Grin The second was that you could crochet a nice scrubby sponge out of it.......
You could also weave fabric through the holes, then use the new fabric to make a market bag?
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Mint tin, more of a question on if I can take the printing off. on: April 30, 2010 07:02:34 PM
I don't know if you can take the print off, but I have an idea of how to paint it. If you decide to paint it--spray paint would probably work. you could open it, tape off any areas you don't want painted. put it upside down on some sort of stand--like a scrap piece of wood that fits inside the tin, but is tall enough so the lid doesn't touch your work surface. Then paint to your heart's content.
Wow, I hope that made sense.
Good luck, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thank you so much for the instructions!!! This is going to make me get into weaving  big time. I tried to make my own loom before, but I didn't know about heddles and whatnot--it was just a really big frame and I never finished my first project. Thank you again!

7  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Learn to Spin. Step 2: Drafting on: February 01, 2010 02:03:38 PM
well...i made my spindle on friday (and I can make 7 more, I just need hooks), and I predrafted my wool........I may have drafted it too thinly, though...I hope not. And this is so exciting!!!!! I tried spinning about a year ago, but I didn't really know what I was doing...so the 2 singles i spun were horribly thick and thin and overtwisted. I've already learned something I didn't know before!
and now I'm waiting (im)patiently for the next part Smiley
