1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Newbies First Quilt (Image Heavy) on: March 09, 2010 04:53:13 PM
Here is my first attempt at quilting.  I saw this fabric and wanted to make a small quilt for my son who loves thomas the train.  This quilt is just crib size so i figured it was a good place to start.

This is what 2 hours and $6.27 got me:

I used a fleece for the backing to make it nice and soft

Any advice of improvements I can make would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

yes I agree, with homespun I don't think I would have the patiences to say make a sweater or blanket with it, but a hat and scarf good.  I did forget to add that I also held a strand of regular 4 ply acrylic with the yarn also because homespun tends to sag as it is warn and it "grows" so I've learned if you work a strand of 4ply in along with it, it holds up very well.

And yes, she loves her hat's, she's my little crafting model lol
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: A Rotten Black Apple Doll--First Try on: January 16, 2010 04:54:44 PM
I was just looking at your doll with my 5 year old and she just fell in love.  Think I might go look threw all her old summer clothes and try making one myself.  I love them at this age, they appreciate and love anything that mommie makes them, when they turn 12 well thats another story lol.

Great job, you get 4 thumbs up

My five year old just loves when I make her hats and scarfs, and she loves even more going to the store and picking out her own yarn.  Well we are in the process of packing and moving (woo hoo) and as I was packing up my yarn  Cry she saw this baby soft pink homespun that I feel in love with (but realized once I tried to crochet with it that it was'nt worth the headache), she just had to have a hat with it.

So I pulled out the biggest hook I had (think it was a K maybe a P) and made her this set.  Again she loves how soft it is and the color.

Thanks for looking

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Colorful Hat on: January 13, 2010 05:17:20 PM
I found this yarn at Joanns and I just loved all the colors and how soft it was.  I decided to make myself a hat with it but once my daughter saw it she feel in love so I gave it to her.  I will have to say she looks much better in it than I do lol.  I love the trinity stitch but because of the colors and fluffiness of the yarn, I think the stitch definition kind of gets lost, but I still like how it came out.

That is so cute!! I have thought of doing that for a long time, taking my childrens old baby clothes and crocheting them into a blanket.  I think I might give it a try.

Great Job!
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Eloise Little Princess Sweater on: December 16, 2009 05:25:54 PM
Well I got a late start on my christmas presents but I've been banging them out pretty good.  This is the latest completion, this is for my cousin Eloise.  This is the Little Princess Cardi pattern from the Lion Brand Website.  It is so easy, worked in straight hdc, and it only took me a like a day and a half to finish so it was awesome.  I found these really cute button at Joann's that I thought make it very feminine.

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Tree quilt inspired by Mimiw (pic HUGE) on: November 24, 2009 07:03:06 AM
This is such a wonderful and personal gift.  I think I might try my hand at one for my daughters for Christmas.  The only type of quilt I have ever made is a quillow, but I think I just might try.

Great Job!!
