1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / BurdaStyle 11/2009 in english on: November 18, 2009 08:12:32 AM
Hi!!

This is a request for the november issue of BurdaStyle magazine. It hasn't been published this month in Spain due to a change of editorial, so the spanish speakers have not the possibility of purchase it.
We are all very dissapointed, and I like to know if anyone can tell me were to buy it online, in a UK site if possible because they are less expensive for us than the ones coming from the USA.

Thank you in advance.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Fitting a dress without darts on: June 17, 2008 12:24:12 PM
Hello!!

I'm trying to figure out how to fit a dress without darts.

I see lots of evening gowns without darts and I've read somewhere on the internet that they are fitted with gathers or pleats.
So, how do I draft the pattern? with darts or without them? how do I cut it?
and would it turn out fit just adding pleats on the waist?

I'm talking about dresses like this:

Thank you in advance!!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Evening gown on: May 22, 2008 01:09:44 PM
Hi everyone!!

First of all, I apologize for the mistakes, I'm spanish I hope you understand me!

I have lots of questions about an evening gown I'm planning to make. I want to make a halter or strapless neck (I'm doubting about it), with the skirt fitted up to the knees and then to the floor with godets and a small fishtail.

I would like to know:

what's the difference between cutting the skirt in 2 pieces (front and back), and in 6 pieces??

what's the difference between cutting it on the bias or not? I know, it drapes better cut on the bias, but I mean if there's any rule, for example, cut on the bias for a 2 pieces skirt and don't cut on the bias for a 6 panels skirt? it depends on the fabric?

Here are some pics, this is something similar to what I have in mind:

For the second one, what fabric should I use?

Thank you for reading!
