3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Viva Mexico!!! aka the Mexican kitsch swap gallery! on: July 15, 2009 08:31:31 PM
my swap partner recieved on the 9th but hasn't posted or sent out my package so I am posting what little pictures I took of my items.

here is a small clutch wallet purse that I painted with acrylic paints. I REALLY like this so cutie!

here is a shrine box painted in Mexican flag colors, I was going to modge podge some pictures on the sides but I was *and still am* in the process of moving and I have been living out of a craft box to fill my crafting needs so I made do with what I had available

Inside the box was about five crocheted tawashis *my current obsession* tucked in between the scrubbies was a DIY doggie keychain guy that I painted a skeleton frame on with a sugar skull face *no pic of those items*

simple painted cross in festive colors

sorry about the bad cell phone quality Tongue I think the board was 12 x 8 I cant remember the artist this is based upon but I loved the artwork and decided to make it my own. On the back I painted "made in Iowa" LOL

Some other items I threw in *not pictured* but for fun was a parrot shopping bag, sombrero, and three AMAZING luchador wrestling figurines complete with ladders clubs and a fake cast *woot for dollar tree finds!*

I hope my swap partner posts better pics soon. PEAS!!!!!

9  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Mini Hello Kitty ami on: January 25, 2009 10:26:58 PM
A friend of mine in my local craft group asked me to come up with a mini hello kitty design as she is rubbish without a pattern. She needed a pattern that would be easy to replicate and also small enough to fit into cribs, we crochet for charity our group does! Smiley So this was pretty fun for me. I made a tut, first time ever writing things down, but I am not quite happy with the dress or my shoddy embroidery skills (never been good on yarn ewww)

so if you have any ideas/comments please let me know it would be quite helpful!

Mini HK is exactly 4inches from the top of her ear to the bottom of her paw
she is worked in rounds, oval shaped (one decrease for neck, one for finish) paws were made separately then added on after making dress. Her ears were crocheted directly on and the dress is also separate from the doll.

Mini Hello Kitty Ami

Used baby weight yarn, size E hook

BODY

1 Row: 5ch, turn, sc  2nd from hook, 3 sc
 4 sc in last space
2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch
 (----)
forms oval shape
there should be 12 sctotal for first oval round, join ch 1
2 row: continue second round, increase by two stitches on each end 16 stitches total, join Ch 1
3-5 Row: continue like 2 row (16 sc)
Decrease on row 6 and 7, decrease by 1 on each end, 12 stitches, join
Stuff
Row 8:
Increase on 2c at each side, 16c total, join, ch 1
Row 9-12: continue in sc rounds (16 sc, join, ch 1)
Row 13: Decrease every stitch to end, join. Cut yarn, stuff, tail to sew up bottom.

Arms and Legs:
Ch 2, 5 sc in 2 ch from hook,  dont join, just continue in rounds
Continue for 4 rounds, join cut off yarn
Make 4, attach to body after making dress for proper placement.

Ears:
3 sc on top of head, dont ch 1, turn 2 sc, 1sc then slip stitch down side to form triangle. Leave enough yarn on tail to shape (if needed) and weave it. Repeat twice.

To make flower on ear, ch 5 then slip st into 1st chain. Ch 5 and slip stitch into 1st chain repeat 3 more times. Attach to ear.

Dress
Row 1:
Ch9, turn, sc in 2 ch from hook, sc 17 (18 sc) Ch 1, turn
Row 2-4:
18 sc
Row 5:
Slip stich in 7 spaces, ch 1, 4sc, ch 1, turn
Row 6:
4 sc, ch 10 join around neck of kitty
sew up dress in back, add decorative edge to bottom ( I did 4 ch, slip into nxt st, repeat all the way around)

Mind you I also made this within the last hour or so! midnight might not be the best time to write patterns Tongue
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi Kuromi! on: January 25, 2009 06:48:12 PM
I really feel that Kuromi of the sanrio world is left out of the spot light way too often. Needless to say when my job started to carry Kuromi items I went ape and I now have almost everything (cept the sweet car seat covers Tongue)

And now I decided to show my love for her in yarn (again) this time not on a blanket but my very own 6 inch tall amigurumi!

I winged the whole darn thing, the hardest part for some reason was making the devil tail (which you cant see LOL) the ears were slightly off but in all I am very pleased with her. I know kuromi is a bunny, but I loved the idea of using my pink cat eyes and giving her the big eyelashes! RAWR!

my previous (and older kuromi project)

PS i would love a kuromi swap!!!!!!!!!!!! hee hee hee
