1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Elizabeth Bennet Zombie Slayer costume ideas? on: October 23, 2009 02:16:59 PM
Halloween is almost here and I just figured out what I want to be! Oy! Roll Eyes

One day at work I saw the new adaption of Pride and Prejudice ( now with zombies!) and I love the idea of Elizabeth defending her home and family against the unholy, undead horde! The bad thing is is that I really don't know how to start. Tall riding type boots and breeches or a long empire dress with a ton of era appropriate weapons? any help would be wondermous!
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Does anyone remember...? on: October 13, 2008 04:19:47 PM
The leg lamp from "A Christmas Story"?
I wanted to make a costume that was funny and a little sexy-ish, and this is what I came up with! I am just struggling on how to make the lamp shade for people.

Any ideas as to make it more funny? Maybe a fake cast to put on one of my legs(that I can still walk around in safely) and ask people to sign it? Carry around an old fashion bottle of glue?

Thanks for listening!
3  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Project Joy Boots (scholarship and donation to Animal Shelter!) on: August 18, 2008 08:02:15 AM
I just saw this section and now I feel silly! I have poste about this group in the section on here and I hope that I can post it here and not get in trouble for spamming, which I hope I am not!

Anyway... A friend of mine (her name was Marisa.) was killed in a car accident earlier this year and another friend and I started this project in Marisa's honor.

Marisa had this pair of rainboots that she had painted herself, just cuz' she wanted to, and so me and Jazzie (the other friend) took that idea and ran with it. We asked her family and friends if they wanted to decorate pairs of rainboots and we are planning on having a silent art auction with the boots as the pieces to be sold.

The money will go to a scholarship in her honor at the community college she went to and we are also going to make a donation in her name to our local Humane Society. We are still looking for artistswho would like to donate their time and skills in decorating boots for the cause. We have a Facebook page and a Myspace page under the name Project Joy Boots if you want more info on us, or you message me personally here!

Marisa was and still is a huge part of the lives of anyone who knew her. This is cliche, but she could brighten a room even when she was feeling crappy, and she never knew a stranger. We just wanted to do something good out of the craziness that someone could be here and then gone in an instant.

Wow. That is a long post. Thank you for listening.
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Painted and/or Colored Rain Boots! on: July 01, 2008 12:07:03 AM
I had a friend who had painted pair of rain boots, and I wanted to do the same thing!

That friend, Marisa, was killed in a car accident this past February (she was only 18.), and so me and another friend, Jaz, started a Charity project in her honor called Project Joy Boots. We got her friends and family together and they painted pairs of rainboots to sell for a scholarship fund in her honor.
