Is anyone members of any Facebook groups for stitchers? Hand embroidery and/or Xstitch?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Lelah top/lacework pattern help? on: July 13, 2009 07:44:59 PM
Aha!! I didn't believe it could be that simple!

THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!! I just thought I was doomed to never be able to do lacework, which I love to wear.

I will recast on and start again and will hopefully have a beautiful piece to post in a couple weeks.

THANKS AGAIN!

So I shouldnt be bringing to front and knitting- isn't that what a YO is? If so, how am I supposed to know when to do it that way and when not to? Sorry- I'm just new to this and confused Sad

So for this top- When I come to yo I should just wrap the yarn around once, without knitting, and then move to sl1?

I am working on the Lelah top. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=26874.0 This is my first time doing lace of any kind and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

It says to cast on 154 stitches. The lace is worked in multiples of 11. I added 11 to cast on 165 stitches.

But the pattern does not work in the 11 multiples. For example, when I work row 5 (*P1, K3, YO, sl 1, K2tog, psso, YO, K3, P1*) I actually end on sl1 with one more stitich before the next round is supposed to start. This is true on all rows and all attempts that I've made.

I've watched video on all the sequences I wasn't sure about and it appears that I'm doing it right. What could I be doing wrong?

I just worked on my item for my partner and was almost finished... when I decided it was messed up and unsalvagable. So I'm moving onto idea #2 tomorrow after I make a craft store run.

It's kind of nice that it's only one thing for this swap because I'm not in a panic like I'm sure I would be if this was a full sized swap.

Ok ok so I've had like 80 ideas of what to make for my partner, saltandpepper. I *think* that I've narrowed it down now. I'm going to be stuck in a car for 2 days at the end of the week, as I'm moving to St. Louis from South Florida so I need to have all my supplies before Thursday morning. I'm going to take that time to make her goodies Smiley

omg I'm so excited. This is more challenging than I thought it would be just because I have so many things I want to make her and I can only choose one! :-D
