1  Hama (perler) bead Tinkerbell... in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by ChickLitWriterGirl on: September 05, 2008 07:55:12 AM
I think I'm addicted to making these giant hama (perler) bead characters! This time I've done Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. She seems to have taken ages to make (probably about a week) but it didn't help that I ran out of beads twice and had to wait for more to come before I could continue!
Anyway, here she is -

Slightly bigger version here - http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k33/chicklitwritergirl/craftster/013.jpg

She's nearly 40 inches tall - the biggest I've done so far - and is currently up on our living room wall!

EDIT: Here are the other ones I've done - http://www.flickr.com/photos/24001167@N04/

2  Rainbow Brite - A Perler (Hama) Bead Wall Decoration in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by ChickLitWriterGirl on: June 24, 2008 02:09:10 PM
I loved Rainbow Brite when I was little, and I was in the supermarket the other day and I came across the whole series on DVD, so I've been watching it loads and have rediscovered my love for it all over again, even though I'm 23 now! And I'm desperately wishing that my mom hadn't thrown out all the Rainbow Brite stuff I had when I was younger!
So I got out my hama beads and made this -

Bigger version here: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k33/chicklitwritergirl/craftster/021-1.jpg

She's 25 inches tall, and is going up on the wall next to my Betty Boop (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=248568.msg2755581) and Totoro (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=247989.msg2748383).
I seem to be starting a collection of giant hama bead characters... Now I just have to decide what to make next!

3  Perler Bead Betty Boop Wall Decoration in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by ChickLitWriterGirl on: May 28, 2008 08:48:28 AM
It's taken me two days to finish this and I'm really pleased with her - perler bead Betty Boop. (They're called Hama beads over here in the UK!)

I've been having trouble getting hama bead designs off the pegboards lately so I was a bit worried about trying something this big, but I finally figured out that my iron was on too low a heat setting! *headdesk*
Erm, what else?
She's 30 inches tall by 13 inches wide, and is stuck to the wall with pink blu-tack right above my bed. (Won't I get a nice shock if she falls down in the middle of the night?!)
I did follow a picture but it lost half the detail when I zoomed in, so I had to make up some parts as I went along. Her face, and jewellery, shoes, etc, are all my doing!  Grin

Thanks for looking!
Now I can't wait to do more big designs. I'm thinking Rainbow Brite might be next!

4  Perler (Hama) Bead Totoro! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by ChickLitWriterGirl on: May 25, 2008 06:26:09 AM
So, I absolutely love the movie My Neighbour Totoro, and I love playing with Perler beads (Hama beads here in the UK!) I just had to do something with the two together!  Grin

He's 20 inches high and 12 inches wide, and has pride of place at the centre of my empty wall! I know he's not very evenly melted, and his whiskers look awful because they were a nightmare to get to stay on. The first ones broke off and I had to melt those on after the rest was completed, which is why they look over-melted and wonky!

5  Re: Rainbow cupcakes! in Dessert by ChickLitWriterGirl on: May 15, 2008 05:55:05 AM
I had to give these a go as well!

Mine didn't turn out brilliantly, but they were lots of fun to make -

I just love anything where you get to make a mess!

I didn't measure mine into the cases very well, and ran out of some colours before others. In fact, three of them have a layer of purple mixture on top because I'd ran out of red and had purple left over! And my orange kind of disappeared into the red. But there we go. At least I will have a better idea of what not to do next time!
