1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Hard Candy on: June 03, 2008 08:43:56 PM
Made these earrings the other day after being inspired by some artists on Etsy. My earrings are nothing like their creations, but I had fun all the same! Haven't made an original pair of earrings in a while so it was goooood. It's just gold-colored findings, purple Czech accent beads, and the rectangle beads must be rhodochrosite or rhodonite I think. I really don't know! It's my best guess after a quick google search for pink stones! Oh, and I call these Hard Candy because I want to eat the pink stones...they look tasty.

2  COOKING / Dessert / Joining the Rainbow Cupcake parade! on: May 21, 2008 12:49:14 PM

After seeing all these rainbow-desserts, I decided I needed to make one too. I've been into cupcakes lately, so decided rainbow cupcakes were the way to go.

I whipped up a yummy looking recipe for a vanilla bean cake I found at http://coconutlime.blogspot.com/, split the batter into 4 bowls, and added a food coloring to each! I spooned one heaping tablespoon of each color into each cupcake liner. The batter is somewhat thick so it ended up being more like blobs of color rather than layers. But I really like the blobby-ness! A little wild and disorganized. I just whipped up a vanilla buttercream frosting for the finishing touches. They are delicious!!! Yum yum.

Note: Both recipes call for vanilla paste, which I don't have. So I used vanilla extract instead.
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Ganon Coaster (from Zelda) on: May 12, 2008 12:23:04 PM
I have plans for a set of 5 beaded Zelda coasters. This is the first one I did: the evil Ganon! I plan on doing a Zelda one, a Link one, One with the fairy, and one with the Zelda logo. So far I like the set!! I probably won't get around to finishing them anytime soon because money is a fickle little thing... So, I wanted to post what I had already!

The next step is to figure out how I want to mount it so that it will be an effective coaster. I was thinking that I would at least stick a thin layer of cork on the back. But beyond that I'm not sure. I keep thinking of trying to do a little wooden border, almost like framing it. But I'm not quite sure how I would do that...

It's about 4x4 inches and made on a homemade loom (thatnks to my lovely boyfriend!) using Delica beads. Yay!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sherbet Breeze! The seed bead and shell necklace! on: April 30, 2008 01:00:25 PM
I got out my beads the other day for a quick project and was feeling too lazy to put them away again...so they sat there for a day, staring at me, begging for attention. So I decided the "bad beads" deserved some loving. The bad beads would be all the plain white seed beads and the bright orange, square pendant (I got it as a free gift with an order of beads a while back).

So I strung up a bunch of white seed beads while watching repeats of Law & Order until I had a considerable bunch. I tied all my strands together, added the clasp, etc and then admired my work. I decided I wanted to do something more with the bright orange shell so I took some silver colored wire and wrapped it around the shell a few times, adding some Swarovskis here and there. And this is what I ended up with! It's nothing special, but just thought I'd share ^_^ Although I have to say, my boyfriend's violin makes a rather elegant background...!
