3  destroybracelet+beads=bracelet that fits+earrings in Beads: Completed Projects by vertigoat on: December 10, 2008 10:23:24 PM
my wrists are kinda dinky so bracelets are usually too big.. the upshot of that is i can dismantle bracelets toss on a few more beads and get a bracelet and pair of earrings out of it... so.. uhm yeah. that's what i did.

4  one sheet, my laundry closet and avoiding finals. in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by vertigoat on: December 08, 2008 04:32:22 PM
I inherited all of my mom's fabric which was super heavy on the florals, pastels and lace bits and bobs.. i gave her such a bad time about it and now i'm in withdrawal, i don't want to study for finals, and this is what i alternated polisci and business law with-

why does a skirt go under Home- complete projects? because it's the skirt to wear while doing laundry at the laundry closet-

i can empty the pockets into the matching catch all bin, iron it on either of the matching ironing boards, and after i wash it i can dry it and snag clothes pins out of the matching bags hanging in the laundry closet

i can leave handy little notes up with my rose magnets, and i have a curtain hiding the ecologically unsafe bleach i just accidentally admitted to owning.

ok, i know it really is all in all pretty dorky. but wow one sheet went a long ways. i have done very very very few crafting projects in the last half decade and it's really nice to just not care if it's dorky, or bad, and just do it and make something and toss it later if it sucks.. if that makes any sense..? i really enjoyed myself. not my taste, my style or well done.. but gosh golly i had -fun-

i also made sure no bit of ribbon went lonely without beads. lol. it really was just dorky fun..

6  craptacular bird cage to craftacular desk organiser? in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by vertigoat on: December 06, 2008 05:03:13 AM
this bird cage had hugely sentimental value to me but it was rusted, a mess, and just bleh. so uhm some wire cutters, spray paint, acrylic paint, scrapbooking paper, ribbon...
and crammed it with some more sentimental stuff- the pencil sharpener and tape dispenser from my great grandfather's desk... notecards and my blown glass pen and ink to try and prod myself into getting better about writing peoples notes. so.. these are a few of my favourite things :}
**edited to add- i saw something like this in a magazine, it might have been junk market style but i just can't for the life of me remember anymore or when or where or anything other than seeing a pic of someone doing something like this to a bird cage***

the before

partway through

parter way through

ok. back to grubbing out this scary craft room again goes me. but i needed a break from cleaning up in here and studying for finals...

10  not too crafty but organised- ribbons & binding erm & rickrack now too in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by vertigoat on: December 04, 2008 02:01:21 AM
ermm i started this post because i was just glad i went through my ribbon.. it's turned into a picture obese monstrosity of me trying to encourage myself to get through allllll the boxes of sewing bits and bobs. Not very exciting craftycreation wise but it is motivating me to finish going through all six gazillion boxes so I hope people will excuse me:}
I am really working at getting my crafting area organised, tidy, and hopefully cute as well. not super crafty but hallelujah I organised my ribbons!
cut out cardboard rectangles to wrap longer pieces of unspooled ribbon on. put anything ~2 feet and under on a safety pin and clipped that to an O ring. set out a jar for the tiny scraps I might want to use for scrapbooking or anything else. so, 3 hours and a movie later I've got organised ribbons I can find and use.

ribbons

binding

rickrack joy. it's come to my attention with this exercise that i'm woefully lacking in rickrack. what the heck?

and elastic! huzzah. box by box it's going from impenetrable tangle to accessible and usable!

snaps, hooks & things that clip.

it really is a good feeling to get a handle on the craptacular mess i've been living in for awhile...
