1  Re: Keep Me Warm Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by malisha on: February 27, 2014 10:14:15 PM
Yeaaah!!! I got mine (actually I got it three days ago, but was too busy)
I was so excited that I forgot to take an initial picture, so here it is:

First of all (as I opened the package) I found this cool microwaveable bowl cozy
which I cant wait to try

Then, wrapped under the cozy was this lovely kisses trinket holder which inmediately went into use and now is proudly holding my ulcer medication, and next to my Frida Kahlo's box hehe

After that, this hen came out of the package, I'm not sure if I want to display it in my kitchen or if I want it to be a pincushion, but the dogs keep trying to steal it.
I swear it looks better in real life, cellphone camera does not do it justice

And last in the fabric package was this super warm (AND PINK) quilted scarf, with tiny little hearts quilted all around, and it's funny that day I was wearing pink hehe

A bow garland, that I swear it's not going to stay on that ugly wall, I just used my Frida Kahlo's pictures to hang it for a picture, but it's moving into the kitchen door I think.

A heart shaped thing, forgot the name (remember i'm not an english speaker) that i turned into a shopping list and everybody around the house loves it

And last but definitely not least, 6 different flavors of hot chocolate mix, fighting myself hard not to drink it all one after another!

As you can see I'm totally and madly in love with my package, thank you rscowtown    for being such a cool partner!!!

5  Camus, guardian of Aquarius (Saint Seiya) poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by malisha on: February 11, 2012 07:04:19 PM
I made this for boyfriend, as he is such a fan of saint seiya, and he was born in february, so I made him an aquarius gold saint for his birthday. (the picture is the original one, just for comparision, i know it's not the same... but was the best i could, i'm planning on kidnapping him to make him boots and the cape)

It took me about a month to do, but was totally worth it. His robes were a total pain to make!!! i made the body first and then decided to make another and quilt it (mistake!!!) besides... the golden fabric was sooo thin that kept breaking all the time (until I remembered a magic word.... INTERFACE!!!)

Hands are poseable, but decided to give him as a picture i saw.

and this is how he got it (my sister made a flower for him and decided to put it in his hand)

C & c welcome!!

Sorry for the delay! I could finally upload pictures!! I dont know why craftster wouldnt let me.

But here they are:

First of all & not pictured, 2 cool postcards from a beach near to her house, One of them really made me laugh!!!
And yes, swaps tend to be addictive!!

Now to the pictures... These awesome glasses inspired in one of my fave songs Les rois du monde - Romeo & juliette (france)

Then... I was soo happy that I started shouting "omg!Omg!! OMGG!!!" This Cat Stevens poppet

With different clothes which are sooo Cat Stevens (I love him, I could seriously have been in love with him):

but my fave stuff (really I loved them and ran everywhere with them) were these awesome pillow covers with the lyrics of a song that is really special to me.
One says "this is dedicated to the woman I love wherever she stands I give her dedication" is now on my pillow because it's my fave quote and the other one says "this is dedicated to the front lines that are dying for dedication, this is dedicated to the child of mine wherever she stands I give her my dedication" is the one on boyfriend's pillow.
Sorry for the crappy picture, I'll take a better one, or at least a close up of the quotes!!!

and as if it weren't enough... I got extras!!!!

Doll clothing patterns!!!!!! really needed because I just finished repairing a doll my dad gave me. And I collect dolls... so.
And QUILTING FABRIC!!! In my fave combination!!!! Omg!!! I couldnt have asked for a better partner!!!!

Thank you for being such a thoughtfull partner!!!! I really loved everything!!! Really I cannot find the words to say how much I loved everything!!

8  Re: Music that changed my life swap (SIGNUPS AUG25-SEP4) SENDOUTS OCT 15 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by malisha on: October 14, 2010 04:08:13 PM
I sent today!!! And, I went to buy one last thing before sending!!! GUESS WHERE I WENT???

After all... we're getting close to Day of the dead!!!

What else could a Mexican girl send???

It is called "la feria del alfeñique" which is only open during october (all over the country) and there you can buy sugar & chocolate skulls, decorations, and much more typical candies which are related to the day of the dead ofrendas and celebrations.

Hope you like them! (they're tiny because they're heavy and I neeeded to keep the package under 1 pound and I was already sending something kind of heavy)

9  My tennis court quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by malisha on: October 10, 2010 12:46:13 PM
Hi everyone!!!

My boyfriend is a tennis addict! he plays, he coaches, he watches... he dreams tennis!!! And he lives in a freaking cold appartment, so he had been asking me for something to keep him warm while he watches tv, and after 4 years of asking.... (okay i'm a bit slow) i made this for him:

It's a tennis court with 2 of his favourite moves while playing (i took pictures of him playing and then made them on fabric) and 2 racquets which actually have strings, I tried to make them the more correctly possible but it was hard. I even asked him to teach me how to string. So I believe it turned out okay

Center shot

Racquet close up

Me quilting it while the dogs were fighting to keep it (it was the closest I've felt to having children)

I've been lurking for a long time. I've made another puppet before, but never uploaded the pics (and believe me, she was waay more beautiful than this, but this one had a special meaning to me) I'll upload the other one soon, promise.

On september 15 we mexicans celebrated the bicentennial of mexican Independence. We had a huuuge celebration, which included a parade (kind of a carnival but in a mexican way). I volunteered to participate in there. We started rehearsing on january and it was one of the best things that has happened to me.  I was chosen as one of the main dancers, and in the end we took our costumes home with us... I made myself a poppet.

The body is made out of the vest we wore before we got our costumes, It's not the best fabric for puppets because it's not stretchable and it makes her legs look like she's got celulitis, but has a special meaning to me and the costume is a replica of mine. She has white hair because we were going to wear white wigs.

Here's her thread with the whole story and pictures of the HUGE EVENT http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=361625.0
