I received from AmphipodGirl over the weekend- it was an amazing package! She sent a very nice letter in which she mentioned checking out my myspace (though it was obvious from the contents, she had done a fair amount of stalking!), and provided a recipe for gluten free cookies (my son has celiac disease and can-not have gluten) that we have yet to try. She sent a ball for my daughter, which she LOVES (perfect timing too, she is just starting to crawl around and will push it and go after it). It is difficult to explain.....it is fabric (3 different patterns and textures!), and oddly shaped- I actually have a pattern for it and wanted to make one, but couldn't figure out how to put it together! For my son she sent a home-made deck of "cards"- wooden disks with painted dinosaurs, a sheet detailing different games that could be played with them, a sheet identifying the different dinosaurs, and a bag to keep them all in. She also sent me a bag, which contained a package of gorgeous origami paper, and as extras some chopsticks, a little wooden box, some pretty bento box picks, and Japanese candies (I used to live in Japan and still love all things Japanese). Thank you so much AmphipodGirl, the package was awesome!
Thank's for posting those. It was all so awesome!!! I honestly think the pokemon are better than his store bought plastic ones (with tiny pieces that constantly fall off......argh!!!), and the poppet is amazing!!! I particularly like that you made the wings removable...it makes it safer to let her play with it, but I can put them back on when it's on display.
Diaper bags so rarely have enough pockets...here's what I carry in mine:
one change of clothes for baby 4-5 diapers travel baby wipes container sometimes petrolium jelly for diaper rashes bottles/sippycups (those who give formula need a place for that too-also pacifiers for those who use them) granola bars/nuts for mom snacks and baby food for baby a toy or two small baby book
My diaper bag also has a detachable purse, which is AWESOME! It has two little loops that have snaps and open into straight straps to connect/disconnect the purse......so I can have all my personal stuff with me w/o having to carry both a diaper bag and a purse, but don't have to transfer stuff, I just disconnect it when I want to go out myself.
That is THE BEST IDEA. I have 2 children, and time is the best gift you can give her. I would probably print up some kind of cute little coupon book containing such things as:
Good for babysitting during nap time- yours not the babies Good for one house-cleaning I'll come over when you need someone ELSE to walk the baby up and down the hallway for a while. I'll run to the store and then your house when you suddenly realize at 3 am that you're out of diapers (or wipes, or baby tylenol when baby's teething, or your tylenol when the screamings given you a migraine)
So that's all of the top of my head and nowhere near elegantly or quirkely worded, but you get the idea.....give her the coupon book with a few re-heatable healthy home-made meals in tupperware, and it's about the best present a new mom could have.
I received from trina447 today! She sent 3 colors of playdough for my son, purple hairbows with ladybug buttons for my daughter, a mini deck of playing cards with birds on the back my son has, two very pretty crocheted dish cloths, 2 necklaces I LOVE (I think she got some color inspiration from my wists), some extra beads, an id/credit card pouch my husband took, a black pouch with hearts on it, some rhinestone transfers, and some GORGEOUS batik fabric. Thank you!!!!
I received from Nezbut today!!!! I was AMAZED with the package and her skill. I will try to post pics by Friday, but in the meanwhile.....The can was wrapped in fabric and handpainted with a tree, a fairy, and a bee (my daughter's room is in the process of being turned into a woodland fairy theme, and I think I'm going to put her socks in this on the dresser). There was also a mini poppet for my daughter.....she handpainted the eyes with non-toxic paint instead of using beads so they wouldn't be a choking hazard, and made the gorgeous but fragile wings removable with velcro- which is an awesome idea b/c I can take them off if I'm going to let my daughter hold it and then put them back on when I put it up for display. The wings came in a beautiful protective carrying case that matched the bag the poppet came in. The poppet was wearing a very pretty woodsy dress, and has 3 more skirts to change into. For my son (who turned 5 yesterday) she sent a tiny felted gnome, an ivysaour, and an oddish (two stuffed felt pokemon), which he LOVES. AND there was a pair of very cool red and black bow/barrettes with a heart button in the middle of each for me, as well as a very nice letter. I was so happy.......now I can only hope that she will be as happy with what I send her, as I am much newer to crafting and not nearly as skilled.....
